On August 9, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ca Mau province reported the discovery of two fishing boats violating regulations by arbitrarily removing the tracking device attached to the roof while fishing.

Previously on August 7, using professional measures, the Fisheries Control Department discovered a device to monitor fishing vessel journeys on the roof of Mr. Duong Minh Tri's house (47 years old, in Phong Dien commune, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province).

Continuing the inspection, we discovered a fishing vessel tracking device on the roof of the house of Ms. Pham Thi Lau (Mr. Tri's mother).

Through working with related subjects and looking up the fishing vessel monitoring system, the device on Mr. Tri's roof belongs to fishing vessel CM-91955-TS owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Ut (44 years old, permanent resident of Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district).

The device installed on the roof of Mr. Tri's mother's house belongs to the fishing boat KG-90819-TS owned by Mr. Truong Van Dung, (35 years old, in Vinh Hoa Hiep commune, Chau Thanh district, Kien Giang province). This fishing boat was sold to Mr. Nguyen Van Ut but the name has not been changed.

During the verification process, Mr. Tri admitted to keeping two tracking devices sent by Mr. Dem (Mr. Dem is the manager of Mr. Nguyen Van Ut's fishing boat).

It is worth mentioning that the two fishing vessels mentioned above are related to the incident of removing 10 fishing vessel monitoring devices and sending a fishing vessel that was discovered and fined more than 130 million VND in March 2023.

The Fisheries Surveillance Department has reported and proposed to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Provincial People's Committee to consider and direct the Provincial Police to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to investigate and verify signs of law violations by fishing vessels.
