Focus on providing solutions to further promote human rights protection

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Colonel Lam Van Vinh, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee on Human Rights of Phu Tho province, said that in recent times, Phu Tho province has achieved good results in socio-economic development, constantly improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

The work of ensuring and promoting human rights in various fields has achieved many important achievements. The socio-economic situation of Phu Tho province remains stable and developing; social security policies are fully and promptly implemented. In 2023, the economic growth rate of the whole province is estimated to reach 7.45% compared to the same period in 2022.

The poverty rate has gradually decreased over the years, in 2023 the poverty rate has decreased to 4.49%. Every year, the province pays monthly subsidies to 60,000 people, ensuring the right beneficiaries and on time. Political security and social order and safety are maintained; actively and effectively combating and refuting erroneous and hostile views related to democracy, human rights, ethnicity and religion.

However, the work of protecting and fighting for human rights at the grassroots level still shows some limitations. For example, the awareness of the role, tasks and responsibilities in the work of protecting and fighting for human rights of some cadres is still inadequate. Some localities and grassroots levels have not yet promoted the synthesis of agencies, departments, branches and organizations participating in the work of protecting and fighting for human rights...

At the Conference, delegates listened to reporters present two topics: "Identifying strange religions, heretical religions, and new religious phenomena that take advantage of freedom of religious belief to violate national security" and "Human rights work in the new situation".

Speaking at the Conference, Colonel Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Head of the Permanent Office for Human Rights, affirmed that human rights work in recent times has had many outstanding achievements, highly appreciated by the international community. This is the result of the entire political system, closely linked to the grassroots level, of local departments and agencies in the work of protecting and ensuring human rights.

Hostile and reactionary forces continue to take advantage of issues of democracy, human rights, ethnicity, and religion to interfere in our country's internal affairs, increase "peaceful evolution" activities, violent overthrow, strengthen internal and external connections, and mobilize countries and international forums to intervene and put pressure on Vietnam on issues of democracy, human rights, ethnicity, and religion.

Therefore, in the coming time, it is necessary to do a good job of advising the Party Committee and the government in implementing policies and laws on ensuring and promoting human rights; continue to promote internal and external communication work, spread positive information about achievements in ensuring human rights...; strengthen the work of grasping the situation, proactively detecting and promptly preventing plots and intentions to take advantage of democracy, human rights, ethnicity and religion to conduct activities against the Party and the State, and better ensure the rights of the people.

The topics were highly appreciated by delegates for providing practical information and knowledge on human rights protection, thereby helping officials in charge of management, consulting and enforcement of human rights protection to better perform their duties and professional work.

These are two topics with very basic and important content on the work of protecting and fighting for human rights, with high practical significance, linked to the actual situation and conditions of Phu Tho province. Through training and guidance on the implementation of human rights work by the reporters, it is an important premise and basis for proposing policies and measures to create clear changes in the coming time.

In his closing speech at the Conference, Colonel Lam Van Vinh affirmed that based on the conference's orientation, he requested that departments, branches, sectors and organizations make positive changes, further raise awareness and take action, to promote the combined strength, the participation of all levels and sectors and the support and assistance of the masses in the work of protecting and fighting for human rights.

The Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee on Human Rights of Phu Tho province hopes that departments, branches, sectors and organizations will continue to advise, direct and implement solutions and policies for socio-economic development, ensure social security, care for people's material and spiritual life, solve employment, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and effectively implement policies on religion and ethnicity.

In addition, Colonel Lam Van Vinh requested to step up propaganda of the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws on human rights; actively combat propaganda and distortions about human rights by hostile forces; proactively detect, combat, and neutralize plots and activities of hostile forces that take advantage of the issues of "democracy, human rights, ethnicity, and religion" to sabotage the Party and State.

According to Colonel Lam Van Vinh, in the coming time, Phu Tho province needs to promptly detect and rectify shortcomings, bringing the work of protecting and fighting for human rights into depth and order. The province will continue to effectively implement programs and plans for socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and constantly improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

At the same time, the province will promote and improve the effectiveness of propaganda work on achievements in ensuring human rights in the political, civil, economic, cultural and social fields of the country and locality; fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints that take advantage of democracy and human rights issues to sabotage.

With those tasks, the Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee on Human Rights of Phu Tho province requested departments and branches to further enhance their responsibility in organizing and implementing human rights work in the province, promptly and effectively advising on solutions to further promote the work of ensuring human rights.
