Welcoming the delegation of the Thai Journalists Association to visit and work with the Vietnam Journalists Association, comrade Le Quoc Minh sent his congratulations to President Norrinee Ruangnoo and the new Executive Board of the Thai Journalists Association elected for this term in April 2024.
At the same time, thank you to the President and the Thai Journalists Association for sending a letter of condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Comrade Le Quoc Minh talked about the context of technology explosion, the change in public news consumption habits, the rise of social networking platforms as well as the increasing appearance of modern electronic devices, creating no small pressure on mainstream press agencies. Readers and listeners now receive information from many different media, the position of the press over the past hundreds of years is facing huge challenges. However, the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that if we only see difficulties, we cannot develop, but we need to find opportunities to overcome challenges and rise up.
According to comrade Le Quoc Minh, for press activities to flourish and develop, the efforts of each press agency are not enough, but cooperation between press agencies in the same country and press agencies in the region is needed.

He believes that in the digital world, good practices from countries that are considered to be slower in developing journalism can also be lessons for more developed countries, including Vietnam, to learn from.
"Vietnamese press is going through a digital transformation phase. Although these are just the first steps, we can be proud that many Vietnamese press agencies have made strong changes. Experience shows that not only strong press agencies with huge financial resources will succeed, but also small press agencies with the right investment will achieve important results, even inspiring other press agencies," said comrade Le Quoc Minh.

The Vietnam Journalists Association and the Thai Journalists Association exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on media cooperation between the two sides.
Comrade Le Quoc Minh hopes that the Journalists Associations of the two countries will discuss and come up with effective professional cooperation plans, grasp the trends, and connect reporters, journalists and leaders of press agencies together. In addition, the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association hopes that the two countries will have exchanges and connections through cultural and sports activities.
Thank you for sharing with the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Ms. Norrinee Ruangnoo - President of the Thai Journalists Association gave way to Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee - President of the National Press Council of Thailand, Senior Advisor to the Thai Journalists Association to share.
Mr. Chavarong expressed his impression of the International Journalism Conference “Management of Digital Newsrooms: Theory, Practice, Experience in the ASEAN Region” organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association last year. The conference was a great success with many good experiences and valuable lessons shared and exchanged by Vietnamese press agencies as well as those from countries in the region. Mr. Chavarong was also surprised by the livestream organization of Tuyen Quang Newspaper - a local newspaper but with international production.

Speaking about ASEAN journalism, Mr. Chavarong said that last July, he and the Thai Journalists Association had a working trip to Cambodia and Laos.
"Meeting and exchanging with the Cambodian Journalists Association and the Lao Journalists Association, we have seen many proud developments in the press of your country. We hope that together with the Vietnam Journalists Association, we will further support the promotion of press activities in Laos and Cambodia, contributing to raising the level of ASEAN journalism," said Mr. Chavarong.
Mr. Anucha Charoenpo - Vice President of International Affairs of the Thai Journalists Association expressed his joy when coming to Vietnam, each time he comes here, he learns a lot of professional experience. Mr. Anucha Charoenpo mentioned the problem of fake news, which is a problem in many countries around the world and the region. Mr. Anucha expressed his wish for connection and press exchange between Vietnam and Thailand to increase official information sources and limit fake news. At the same time, open language training courses for reporters and journalists of the two countries.

Agreeing with the opinions of the delegates of the Thai Journalists Association, comrade Le Quoc Minh said that fake news is not only a national problem, but also a major regional and global problem. There needs to be a connection and sharing of official information between the two countries with the criteria of Correct - Fast - Accurate - Good.
At the end of the discussion, Chairman Le Quoc Minh wished the delegation of the Thai Journalists Association a successful visit and work in Vietnam.
As an official member of the ASEAN Journalists' Federation, the President of the Vietnam Journalists' Association hopes that the two sides need to maintain and promote cooperation in delegation exchange activities as well as communication activities on the mass media and press systems of Vietnam and Thailand to contribute to building a peaceful, stable and developed ASEAN.
