Accordingly, the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities are required to organize inspections and overall safety assessments of irrigation works in the area, proactively arrange funds to repair damaged works and review protection plans and respond to emergency situations.
Units managing and exploiting irrigation works such as Dak Lak Irrigation Works Management Company Limited, coffee companies Limited and other units and individuals are also required to increase inspection and maintenance of works, test-run flood discharge equipment and be ready to respond to emergency situations.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment also directed the Department of Irrigation and Water Resources Management to strengthen consultation and coordination with localities and related units to ensure the safety of irrigation works in the province.
The dispatch also requested the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Irrigation 8; the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Traffic Works and Rural Development of the province to speed up the construction progress of the works, ensuring safety during the flood season.
It is known that Dak Lak currently has 880 irrigation works (including 623 dams, reservoirs; 167 weirs; 88 pumping stations and 2 dyke systems), with a total capacity of reservoirs of about 800 million m3 ; the total length of canals of irrigation works in the area is 2,427.6 km (more than 1,593 km have been reinforced). Since the beginning of the year, there have been 2 heavy rains in the province, causing flooding of more than 1,300 hectares of crops (mainly rice), of which 431 hectares were completely damaged. The estimated damage is more than 8 billion VND.
