Scale and theme of the Southern folk cake festival
Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued a Plan to organize the Hung Kings' Commemoration Anniversary in 2025 and the 12th Southern Traditional Cake Festival in 2025.
The festival, themed "Preserving and promoting the value of Southern traditional cakes", will take place from April 4 to 8 (March 7 to 11 of the lunar calendar) at Binh Thuy District Square, Can Tho City and surrounding areas. The expected scale is from 200 to 250 booths, including booths selling traditional cakes, cuisine, tourism and regional specialties, fruits and ornamental plants of all kinds.
The event is organized with many exciting and unique activities, promising to attract a large number of people and tourists inside and outside the city to visit, experience and enjoy.

Highlights at the Southern Folk Cake Festival
This year's festival offers many unique activities, creating a rich experience for visitors. The highlights are the activities
+ The festival opening ceremony is on the evening of April 4; offering traditional cakes on the occasion of Hung Kings' death anniversary is on the morning of April 7 (10th of the third lunar month).
+ In addition, visitors to the festival will be immersed in the atmosphere of the Folk Cake Competition.
+ Experience making cakes with artisans. Participants will be directly guided on how to make traditional Southern cakes through the guidance of artisans.
+ Bonsai competition in the city; visit exhibition spaces, trade and serve customers with hundreds of types of traditional cakes, specialties of the West...
These activities help participants gain a deeper understanding of the traditional folk culture of the Western people, while preserving the precious spiritual values of the nation.
According to the Organizing Committee, food safety will be strictly controlled. Participating in introducing traditional cake products at the festival are traditional cake and culinary artisans who have been recognized and certified at events and festivals held in provinces and cities; entities and facilities producing gift products, regional specialties, and OCOP products that have been recognized by competent authorities; individuals and business organizations that meet the conditions of business licenses, product and goods certificates, etc.
The Southern Traditional Cake Festival is an opportunity to preserve and promote the value of Southern traditional cakes. At the same time, it contributes to promoting the unique features of traditional cuisine to domestic and foreign tourists. This is also an opportunity to create conditions for businesses and artisans making traditional cakes to connect, cooperate, promote investment, develop traditional cakes into national brands, and export them abroad.

After more than 10 years, the Southern Traditional Cake Festival has become an important tourist event. In 2024, the Festival attracted about 870,000 visitors to visit and experience. In particular, the highlight of the festival is the performance of pouring giant pancakes with a diameter of 3m by 13 artisans, attracting a large number of people and tourists.
