(Dan Tri) - The Ho Chi Minh Road section through Binh Duong province is gradually taking shape after 10 months of resumption, running through lush green rubber forests.
After restarting construction in November 2023, the Ho Chi Minh Road project (Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section) passes through Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Long An provinces with a length of more than 72km, with a total investment of nearly 2,300 billion VND. The Ho Chi Minh Road, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section, starts at Tru Van Tho commune, Bau Bang district (Binh Duong), and ends at the intersection with National Highway N2, Duc Hoa district (Long An). The project was started in 2009 by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC). However, due to funding difficulties, the project had to be suspended since 2011. The Ho Chi Minh Road section through Dau Tieng District (Binh Duong) is eye-catching with vast green rubber forests on both sides. In this area, the contractor is implementing the K95, K98 embankment projects and compensating with crushed stone. In November 2023, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, together with Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Long An provinces and Deo Ca Group, held a ceremony to launch the project after 12 years of suspension. Ho Chi Minh Road, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section, is designed with 6 lanes, the permitted speed is 100 km/h. Currently, the first phase is invested with a scale of 2 lanes, in the future it will continue to expand. The project is divided into 3 packages, Deo Ca Group is the contractor for package XL01 with a construction value of more than 681 billion VND, with a length of 31.5km from Bau Bang district to Saigon river bordering Tay Ninh province. About 31km of Ho Chi Minh Road through Binh Duong province mainly passes through rubber and fruit forests. Some residential and garden land areas have not been cleared yet. In the XL01 package, in addition to the main road, there are 6 bridges under construction including the Phuoc Hoa Canal Bridge, Ba Tu Bridge, Thi Tinh Bridge, Cay Truong Bridge, Thanh An Bridge and Suoi Tre Bridge. Contractors must use large barges to transport materials and construct bridges across large rivers. In the items of package XL01, the contractor mobilized nearly 200 workers, engineers and more than 100 machines and equipment, organizing 16 continuous construction teams. Currently, the construction output of the package reached more than 135 billion VND, equivalent to about 20%.
Workers are working continuously under harsh weather conditions to complete the project on schedule. Thanh An Bridge at Km40+883 is one of the important projects of the project, currently 4/12 piers and 2 abutments have been completed, and pile driving is continuing at other piers. The Ho Chi Minh Road, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section, is an important route in the planning of the North - South Expressway in the West, connecting the Southeast - Central Highlands - Mekong Delta. The Ministry of Transport has directed the contractor to speed up the progress to ensure technical traffic opening on April 30, 2025.
