The SUP racing tournament is an annual competition held in Can Tho with the sponsorship of SIS Can Tho International General Hospital. This year, the Organizing Committee has added a Kayak racing performance to bring new experiences to local people and attract visitors and tourists from other provinces and cities to watch and participate in the tournament.

This tournament has 500 athletes from 30 agencies, units, organizations and individuals living, studying and working in and outside Can Tho. The athletes compete in 03 events: men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles; with a competition distance of 500m.

Participating in the tournament for the second time, Ms. Minh Hien, from Co Do district, Can Tho, excitedly said: “Racing on the river is like traveling, exercising, swimming… and seeing everyone participating happily. This sport is quite interesting, I hope that more people will know about SUP. We can participate and interact with each other.”

At the end of the competitions, the Organizing Committee awarded medals and bonuses to athletes who achieved from 1st to 3rd place; Medals and bonuses to athletes who achieved from 4th to 10th place; Medals from 10th to 20th place in the tournament's events.

In order to encourage the spirit of kayak racing, the Organizing Committee will also award prizes to the kayak racers who achieve 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Given the importance of the tournament, Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, requested the Referees to focus on doing their job well and upholding their sense of responsibility so that the competitions would be "objective - fair - accurate", creating a premise to raise the level of the tournament in the following editions.

“The purpose of this tournament is to promote and encourage people to raise awareness of regular exercise, contributing to improving the health and stature of Can Tho people in particular and Vietnam in general. Furthermore, this is an event organized with the desire to create a highlight to attract tourists to Can Tho and participate in the tournament,” said Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet.

The Can Tho City Open SUP Race took place for the first time in 2022. After 3 times of organization, the number of registered athletes has doubled. Therefore, in order to stimulate tourism, Can Tho decided to choose this tournament to be held annually to serve the needs of people to enjoy cultural and spiritual life.
