On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the death of painter Tran Van Can (1994-2024), on August 8, the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts introduced the book Tran Van Can - Selected works from the collection of the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, introducing a number of rare paintings, some of which have never been published, by the famous painter Tran Van Can.

Among the first four pillars of modern Vietnamese fine arts, Tri - Lan - Van - Can, the famous painter Tran Van Can demonstrated his talent in silk paintings, lacquer paintings, oil paintings and woodcuts. His works contributed to shaping the appearance of modern Vietnamese fine arts.
The book Tran Van Can - Selected works from the collection of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, was conceived in 2020 and completed within 4 years. The work also introduces some rare paintings, some of which have never been published by the famous artist Tran Van Can, such as the silk painting In the Cave , created in 1951.

According to art researcher Nguyen Hai Yen, his works follow three propositions: history, heritage and society. That is also the direction of exploitation of the new book about the famous painter Tran Van Can. "Painter Tran Van Can is deeply attached to the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. He has made great contributions to collecting works for the museum since 1973. The paintings of the famous painter Tran Van Can show a comprehensive view of the image of the country and people of Vietnam through historical periods. The book that has just been introduced also shows his creative journey spanning history," said Ms. Nguyen Hai Yen.
According to artist Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, famous painter Tran Van Can, together with the golden generation of the Indochina College of Fine Arts, laid the first bricks for a solid foundation of modern and contemporary Vietnamese art in the 20th century.

"From the arduous journey through the two great resistance wars of the nation until the day of peace and national reunification, he remained a devoted and devoted person in silence, only letting his talented pen speak in each work. He lived and painted with a sincere heart, a faithful companion to the fate of the nation and the country," painter Luong Xuan Doan expressed.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum also received the musical work Little Thuy Minuet donated by musician Paul Zette. This is a piece of music written by Paul Zette inspired by the work Em Thuy by the famous painter Tran Van Can. With the accompaniment of People's Artist Ngo Hoang Quan, the piece of music was arranged for the chamber music group and performed for the first time at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in this event. The music Little Thuy's Minuet is a meaningful gift, along with the national treasure Em Thuy, which will continue to be preserved and promoted at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.
