Practical and highly aesthetic

With a scale of 500m2, the exhibition displays and introduces over 350 samples of handicraft products, creative and unique craft villages. This is a great space for the public, those who love and are interested in the handicraft industry in general and the bamboo and rattan weaving industry, and the fine art horns in particular to admire typical, unique works of high aesthetic value created by the talented hands of artisans and skilled workers.

Sharing with the press, Mr. Hoang Quan, Deputy Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion & Industrial Development Consulting (Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade) said that the exhibition helps businesses and rural industrial production facilities in the bamboo and rattan weaving, te grass - fine art horns industries in Hanoi to learn, research and put new designs into production.

In particular, from these designs, new products are developed to meet market requirements, especially the export market. Not only that, here visitors will experience learning about the history and production process of rattan and bamboo weaving, traditional and modern handicrafts such as co te and horn; and participate in promotional activities to connect trade of these products.

Artisans participating in the exhibition said that this is a place to encourage and guide authors to design products that are both practical and have high aesthetic value, supporting businesses and rural industrial production facilities in Hanoi's handicraft industry to diversify product designs to meet market demands.

This contributes to strengthening the connection between 5 “houses”: designers – craftsmen – manufacturers – distributors and consumers. In addition, the exhibition is also a place to introduce and promote unique and typical products with strengths of traditional craft villages of Hanoi to the public.

"The exhibition also contributes to promoting the potential strengths of the capital in the fields of creative design, thereby contributing to the economic and social development of Hanoi. Connecting and expanding business cooperation between organizations, experts, domestic and international enterprises in the fields of design and creative industries," Mr. Quan emphasized.

Connecting culture with craft village tourism

In recent years, departments and branches of Hanoi City have continuously organized festivals, fairs and exhibitions linking culture with tourism and craft villages, introducing and promoting OCOP products of Hanoi City and the whole country.

Typical examples include: Hanoi Tourism Festival, Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival, Hanoi Craft Village Cuisine and Tourism Festival; Hanoi Creative Design Festival; Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival; Hanoi Fruit Festival; Hanoi Autumn Festival; Hanoi Beer Festival; Hanoi Lotus Festival for the first time in 2024, Hanoi Ornamental Plants Festival for the first time in 2024... Thanks to that, thousands of local OCOP products from craft villages are introduced and promoted, becoming favorite destinations for many customers.

Recently, the Hanoi Lotus Festival and the introduction of OCOP products associated with the culture of the northern mountainous provinces held at the Tay Ho Cultural and Creative Space (Hanoi) attracted about 50,000 visitors and shoppers. With the participation of more than 1,000 OCOP products from different regions, it brought many interesting experiences to tourists and consumers.

From July 12 to 16, 2024, the total revenue and value of contracts and memorandums of understanding to commit to purchasing OCOP products and lotus products and teas reached more than 11 billion VND, of which direct sales revenue reached 6 billion VND. The shopping atmosphere at the festival was very lively and bustling, consumers did not hesitate to spend money to buy large quantities of goods because they trusted the quality of OCOP products.

Participating in the Hanoi Lotus Festival are many OCOP products from craft villages in the capital such as silk products, lotus silk of My Duc Mulberry Silk Company Limited; Chuong village hats (Chuong My, Hanoi); Ha Thai lacquer paintings and souvenirs (Thuong Tin, Hanoi); Thanh Tri rice rolls; Ba Vi dairy products, etc.

Currently, Hanoi has 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts. Up to now, 745/2,711 OCOP products in the city are products of craft villages and villages with crafts (accounting for 27.48% of total OCOP products in the city).

At the Hanoi Lotus Festival and the introduction of OCOP products associated with the culture of the northern mountainous provinces, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that Hanoi is on the right track in exploiting indigenous cultural values ​​and local strengths to develop OCOP products. The introduction and promotion of OCOP products associated with events and festivals are increasingly professional and attractive.

Hanoi City aims to have 2,000 products evaluated and classified in the One Commune One Product Program, period 2021-2025. With high determination from the government and local authorities, from 2021 to the end of 2023, Hanoi has evaluated and classified 1,657 products. In 2024, districts, towns and cities in Hanoi have registered to evaluate and classify an additional 510 products. With this result, Hanoi's OCOP Program will exceed the set target one year early.
