Specifically, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District informed that the total expected area of ​​Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square is about 1.2 hectares. The North borders Hang Gai and Cau Go streets; the South borders the edge of Hoan Kiem Lake and Thuy Ta house; the East borders Ho Hoan Kiem Street; the West borders Hong Van - Long Van building.

In particular, the Ho Guom Trade - Service - Food Center building is managed and operated by Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco), built from 1991-1993 (land area of ​​about 390m2, usable floor area of ​​about 1,600m2).

The total planned area of ​​the area east of Hoan Kiem Lake is about 2.14 hectares, with the western boundary bordering Hoan Kiem Lake and Dinh Tien Hoang Street; the northern boundary bordering the existing residential area; the eastern boundary bordering Ly Thai To Street; the southern boundary bordering Tran Nguyen Han Street.

Currently, there are about 54 land and house users, including: 12 organizations, agencies, units (Department of Culture and Sports, Hanoi Electricity Corporation, Institute of Literature, Hanoi Population Department, Hanoi Blind Association, State Treasury Office, Electricity Hotel, Northern Electricity Corporation, Power Transmission Company No. 1, City Citizen Reception Office and 02 Cooperatives currently serving as specialized houses) and 42 households.

Hoan Kiem District cited a series of specific plans and bases and explained: Since the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District implemented the Project of a walking street around Hoan Kiem Lake, Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square in particular and the open space around Hoan Kiem Lake in general (Ly Thai To monument area, Ly Thai To flower garden, Ngoc Son Temple area, Ba Kieu Temple...), it has created public space, cultural activities, arts, entertainment for the people of the Capital on weekends and major holidays, important anniversaries of the Capital Hanoi.

"It can be said that Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square and the public spaces around the lake are not only a cultural and historical site but also a place for community exchange and connection, serving the cultural and spiritual life of the people," affirmed the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District.

Therefore, Hoan Kiem district believes that the research and construction of the two square areas and public spaces mentioned above will contribute to enhancing the inherent historical value of culture and history, connecting two very important areas: the special national relic site of Hoan Kiem Lake (South) with the national relic site of the Old Quarter (North); contributing to concretizing the orientation of the approved plans.

The area east of Hoan Kiem Lake is being studied and implemented according to the TOD model in the implementation of the underground urban railway line (line 2 - Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section) connected to the underground station C9 in the west of the land (including the system of entrances and exits of the station in this area), contributing to strengthening urban technical infrastructure and public space, serving the community of the capital, in accordance with the policies and directions of the Central Government, the City Party Committee, the Hanoi City People's Committee and the orientation in the project to Adjust the General Planning of Hanoi Capital to 2045 with a vision to 2065 approved by the Prime Minister on December 27, 2024.
