Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia received US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper.

At the reception, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his gratitude to President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Ambassador Marc Knapper, staff of the US Embassy and Consulate General in Vietnam, and many US agencies, organizations, and people for sending their deepest condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. This is a testament to the good development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia reviewed the achievements of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially since the visit of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the United States in July 2015 and the visit of President Joe Biden to Vietnam in September 2023. Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the US continue to support Vietnam in training high-quality human resources; create favorable conditions for cooperation between universities, technology institutes, and trade organizations in the two countries. Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia hopes that Ambassador Marc Knapper and the US Embassy in Vietnam will continue to be a bridge to promote party-channel relations, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding and trust, on the basis of agreed principles of respecting each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia and Ambassador Marc Knapper discussed the relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Marc Knapper said that the agencies, ministries and sectors of the two countries are closely coordinating to realize the Joint Statement of the two countries' senior leaders on upgrading Vietnam-US relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. In the coming time, the Ambassador hopes that the two sides will have many activities to deepen the achieved results and continue to promote areas with much room for cooperation. The two sides agreed that 2025 is an extremely important year, marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam's national reunification, the 30th anniversary of Vietnam and the United States normalizing relations, an opportunity for the two countries to recognize the great strides made, from historical depth to the present and towards the future. The two sides affirmed that the good relationship between the two countries stems from the legitimate aspirations of the people of the two countries, is the realization of the vision, goals and efforts of the leaders of the two countries, for the interests of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and sustainable development.
