Innovation in the way of making questions in 3 exam subjects

The 10th grade entrance exam in 2025 is the first admission exam according to the 2018 General Education Program. Therefore, the exam will have a new "look" in the spirit of innovation.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu said that the entrance exam for grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 will be kept stable with 3 subjects: literature, math and foreign language.

The new point lies in the level of differentiation and innovation of the exam questions in each subject, closely following the objectives of the 2018 General Education Program at the secondary school level. This will be calculated and adjusted by the Department to suit teaching and learning in the direction of assessing students' abilities.

According to Mr. Hieu, in August, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will issue guidelines for the entrance exam for grade 10 of high school in the 2025-2026 school year. One month later, the department will announce the method and content of the exam.

Notably, the sample test questions for each subject will be announced by the department. This is to help teachers and schools have direction in innovating teaching and testing and assessment closely following the direction of assessing students' abilities.

However, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu emphasized that parents and students do not need to worry too much because over the past 10 years (since 2014), the city has consistently implemented the goal of teaching and learning in the direction of assessing students' abilities.

In the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to resolutely implement the innovation of exam questions in the direction of assessing students' abilities. However, the exam questions in the direction of assessing learners' abilities will be more clearly demonstrated by Ho Chi Minh City, in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program.

Adjustment in specialized exams

Regarding the specialized exam, the head of the Ho Chi Minh City education sector said that the direction of the Department of Education and Training is to replace specialized exam subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography with specialized exam subjects of natural sciences, history - geography, in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program at the secondary school level.

However, at high school level, there will be appropriate orientations for students in specialized classes to choose the right specialized subjects of physics, chemistry, history, and geography according to the 2018 General Education Program at high school level, linked to career orientation.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu informed that in the new school year, the Department of Education and Training will strengthen the direction of teaching, testing and assessment at secondary level, ensuring consistency and compliance with the goals of the 2018 General Education Program.

The Department of Secondary Education will focus on guiding and inspecting the development of assessment and testing plans at the secondary level, especially grade 9.

In particular, the department will compare and evaluate the output at the secondary level according to the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program. At the end of grade 9, in each subject, students will achieve the requirements set by the new program.

In the first semester of the next school year, the department will organize inspection teams to inspect the actual process of teaching innovation and assessment in secondary schools.

In the process of building the assessment matrix for each subject during the school year, teachers must fully control the competencies required to achieve the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program.
