At the conference, Mr. Do Van Thua - Deputy Head of Soc Trang Fisheries Sub-Department informed that by the end of April 2025, the brackish water shrimp farming area was estimated at more than 12,255 hectares (white-leg shrimp was more than 9,930 hectares, black tiger shrimp was more than 2,305 hectares); the cumulative damaged shrimp farming area to date is 144 hectares, accounting for 1.2% of the farming area. The harvested shrimp farming area is more than 1,191 hectares, with an output of more than 10,392 tons (white-leg shrimp 6,915 tons, black tiger shrimp 3,242 tons). The selling price of raw white-leg shrimp of size 20 - 50 shrimp/kg is from 130,000 - 207,000 VND/kg, higher by 12,000 - 17,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year. To support people during the shrimp farming season, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has organized environmental monitoring at 28 upstream canal points in the province, collected water monitoring results and made recommendations to shrimp farmers via Zalo and mass media; organized propaganda for shrimp farming households according to VietGAP process...

Delegates asked questions to the professional sector about how to early recognize and effectively prevent some common diseases in shrimp such as: white spot disease, acute hepatopancreatic necrosis, white feces, black spots, tail rot, black gills, soft shells, luminous shrimp and especially microsporidia in shrimp. How to prevent diseases for shrimp when the dry season turns into the rainy season and when to raise shrimp in the rainy season; how to choose disease-free shrimp breeds. Solutions for shrimp farming to reduce costs, increase productivity and quality of shrimp farming while protecting the environment in the farming area, bringing good profits to shrimp farmers during the season... Representatives of the leaders of the professional sectors answered the questions of the delegates in full.

Comrade Quach Thi Thanh Binh shared that in the second quarter of 2025, the unit's target is 30,000 hectares of brackish water shrimp farming area; brackish water shrimp output reaches 52,200 tons. To achieve the above targets, the unit will hold specialized conferences in key shrimp farming areas of the province; promptly inform farmers about developments in prices, environment, weather and shrimp diseases. Strengthen the management of brackish water shrimp farming, according to the seasonal calendar; conduct environmental monitoring of farming areas, in order to provide technical recommendations and timely solutions to ensure good development of farming areas and limit damage. Continue to implement the brackish water shrimp project; organize conferences and seminars on regional linkages, promote trade of shrimp products of the province...
