Support Son La province with billions of dong to overcome flood consequences
Sharing information with the Petrovietnam delegation about the damage caused by floods, Comrade Giang Thi Huong - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province said: In the recent past, Son La province has had continuous heavy rains, causing flash floods, landslides and widespread flooding, especially in Mai Son, Thuan Chau districts and Son La city. Floods have caused negative impacts, isolating and cutting off many residential areas; killing 11 people, leaving many missing and injuring many others; 2,531 houses were damaged, of which 113 were completely damaged, 231 had to be urgently relocated; thousands of hectares of rice and crops were flooded; thousands of livestock and poultry were killed and swept away by floods; many key traffic routes, schools, medical stations, irrigation works, electricity and water systems, communications... were severely damaged.

Sympathizing and sharing the losses and damages of Son La province, the Petrovietnam delegation donated 1.5 billion VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province and organized visits and condolences to families whose relatives were lost and families whose property was damaged in the recent floods, hoping that the money Petrovietnam provided would help people quickly overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives. Also on this occasion, the Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Corporation (PVEP) supported Son La province with 300 million VND to overcome the consequences of the storm.
On behalf of the leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and the people affected by floods, Ms. Giang Thi Huong thanked Petrovietnam and PVEP for their sympathy and sharing. At the same time, she pledged to use the supported funds for the right purposes and effectively, helping people in areas affected by floods and landslides to soon stabilize their lives.

Next, with the support of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuan Chau district, the Petrovietnam delegation went directly to Tong Co commune, Thuan Chau district, Son La province to visit and give gifts to families that suffered heavy losses due to floods.
Reporting to the working delegation, comrade Lo Minh Hue - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tong Co commune said: Due to the impact of storm No. 2, the commune has experienced prolonged heavy rains leading to flooding in many places. As of noon on July 26, the total number of households whose housing was affected was 276. Of which, the most severe damage was in 3 villages: Thum Cay, Phe and Co with 39 households completely flooded. In addition, the floods also damaged 42 hectares of rice, 15.6 hectares of ponds and 76.6 hectares of other crops. In addition, many inter-village roads: Thum Cay, Phe, Co were completely flooded.

Also on August 1, Petrovietnam and PVEP donated VND5 billion to fund the construction of Muong Cai Primary and Secondary School, Song Ma District. Colonel Bui Tuan Anh - Deputy Director of Son La Provincial Police Department received the donation and promised to coordinate with other units to soon start building the school.

Continuing to implement the program to support people affected by floods, on August 2, a Petrovietnam delegation coordinated with a Dien Bien Provincial Police delegation led by Colonel Pham Truong Giang - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police to present gifts in Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province.

Comrade Do Chi Thanh - Deputy General Director of Petrovietnam, Head of the working delegation said, with the spirit of mutual love and affection of the Oil and Gas people, immediately after receiving information about the damage caused by floods and landslides in the district, Petrovietnam established a working delegation to directly visit, give gifts and support the people of Dien Bien district.
On this occasion, Petrovietnam donated 1.5 billion VND to Dien Bien province to join hands to support people affected by floods. "We hope that Dien Bien district will quickly bring Petrovietnam's gifts to households affected by floods, helping people overcome losses and stabilize their lives soon," said comrade Do Chi Thanh. Also on this occasion, PVEP donated 300 million VND to Dien Bien district to support people to overcome the consequences of floods and landslides.

Reporting to the working delegation, comrade Nguyen Thai Binh - Chairman of Dien Bien District People's Committee said: As of the end of July 31, flash floods and landslides in the district have killed 4 people, 3 people are missing and 7 people were injured. Along with that, 325 houses were damaged, of which 21 houses collapsed and were swept away; 21 houses suffered very heavy damage from 50-70%. The floods also caused 74.5 hectares of rice fields to be buried by large amounts of soil and rocks that could not be repaired; 42.39 hectares of rice fields to be buried by small amounts of soil and rocks that people had to repair themselves. Traffic roads and power systems were severely affected...
“On behalf of the district leaders, I would like to sincerely thank Petrovietnam for their noble sentiments and hearts. The Group’s support has “shared the burden” with the district and the people during these difficult days,” said the Chairman of the Dien Bien District People’s Committee.
Also on August 2, Petrovietnam's working group went directly to Muong Pon commune to present gifts, visit and share with households affected by flash floods and serious landslides. Comrade Do Chi Thanh - Deputy General Director of Petrovietnam and his colleagues in the working group directly supported 21 families. Of which, 4 families unfortunately had people dead or missing and the family of a member of the Security and Order Protection Team of Muong Pon 1 village whose house was swept away received 10 million VND/family; each household whose house was swept away received 5 million VND; each household whose house collapsed received 4 million VND along with gifts from Petrovietnam. Along with that, PVEP also presented 21 households with severe damage, each with 1 million VND in cash and 1 gift from the Corporation.
Moved by the humanitarian actions of the working group, Comrade Quàng Văn Tiến – Chairman of Mường Pồn Commune People’s Committee expressed his respect and gratitude to Petrovietnam and PVEP. At the same time, he hoped to continue receiving the Group’s support in social security work.
