The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a document verifying the high school diploma of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet (aka Venerable Thich Chan Quang).

Specifically, at the end of the inspection process, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City confirmed the results of the review of the high school graduation exam records of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet, born in 1959, as follows: Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's name was not on the list of candidates and the score sheet of the Department's 1989 supplementary high school graduation exam. Mr. Viet's name was also not on the Department's list of candidates for the supplementary high school graduation certificate on June 6, 1989.

Sharing with VietNamNet on the morning of August 13, a representative of Hanoi Law University said they were aware of the incident.

This person said that if the high school diploma is fake, the school at the higher level will carry out procedures according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on the management of diplomas and certificates.

"In principle, when there is an official document from the management agency, the school will carry out the procedures according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training," he said.

Regarding the Foreign Language University - now Hanoi University, where Mr. Vuong Tan Viet graduated with a bachelor's degree in English in 2001, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong, Vice Principal of the school, said that the school is still working with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training. "When there is official information from the management agency, the school will follow the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training," Ms. Phuong informed.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on enrollment and training for bachelor, master and doctoral degrees, students who commit fraud in preparing documents to obtain degrees and certificates (using fake degrees in their registration documents) will be forced to leave school. Diplomas that have been granted will be revoked and canceled according to regulations.
