Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , an official of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) confirmed that Mr. Vu Tien Loc, chairman of VIAC, passed away suddenly this morning, August 5.

According to this person, the family and the unit are currently discussing plans to prepare for the funeral.

According to an official of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Mr. Loc died at 5:00 a.m. on August 5 in Hanoi.

Mr. Vu Tien Loc was born in 1960 in Thuy Phong commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province. He has a PhD in economics, a senior degree in political theory, and has taught at many universities in and outside the country.

Mr. Loc is currently the Chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC). He was also a National Assembly delegate from the 11th to the 15th terms.

He is a member of the Economic and Budgetary Committee of the 11th National Assembly, a member of the Economic Committee of the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th National Assembly.

Previously, Mr. Loc was an officer of the Central Institute for Economic Management, then transferred to work at the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (later the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry - VCCI).

He held the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry for 18 years, from 2003 to 2021.

In addition, Mr. Loc has held many positions such as member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement.

He is Vice Chairman of the Prime Minister's Advisory Council on Administrative Procedure Reform, Chairman of the Vietnam Public-Private Partnership Committee, Chairman of the Central Council of Vietnam Business Associations, and Chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum Alliance (VBF).

Mr. Vu Tien Loc is considered to have made many marks on the parliament as well as the development of the Vietnamese business community.
