Female Mercedes driver crashes into series of motorbikes waiting at red light on Ho Chi Minh City street

(PLVN) - Thu Duc City (HCMC) authorities are investigating the cause of a serious traffic accident that occurred this afternoon, March 16.

Initial information, at 5:00 p.m. on March 16, a female driver drove a car with a Ho Chi Minh City license plate on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, heading from Rach Chiec Bridge to Dong Nai province.

When arriving at Thu Duc intersection, this car suddenly rushed forward, knocked over many motorbikes stopped at a red light and continued to crash into vehicles crossing the intersection.

Some drivers who saw the problem sped up and escaped. The Mercedes continued to push the vehicle in front of it for more than 50 meters before stopping. The Mercedes driver, a woman (about 50 years old), got out of the car with a panicked expression and burst into tears.

Witnesses said the car was driving slowly at a red light, but then suddenly accelerated and crashed into a row of cars in front, dragging a motorbike for several dozen meters. Two people were thrown onto the hood, and a girl was dragged under the car.

10 motorbikes were badly damaged and lying in the middle of the road. The injured were taken to the emergency room by local people, including a girl who was seriously injured.

Upon receiving the news, Thu Duc City authorities coordinated with traffic police to arrive at the scene, regulate traffic, and investigate the cause of the accident.

The female driver was taken for drug and alcohol testing.
