Many large schools double their requests.

Today (August 13), the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) will conduct a virtual screening of university admission applications for 2024 nationwide. The virtual screening process will take place 6 times and will end at 4:00 p.m. on August 17.

The virtual filtering process will ensure that each candidate is only admitted to one wish in one method in the list of wishes that candidates register to be eligible for admission, according to the principle of prioritizing higher wishes.

At the same time, two virtual filtering groups in the North (chaired by Hanoi University of Science and Technology) and the South (chaired by Ho Chi Minh City National University) will carry out their own process to filter together with the system of the Ministry of Education and Training, in order to give the most accurate results.

Before "G hour", information about the number of applications to schools increasing, even doubling in many schools, attracted attention in society.

Dr. Huynh Trung Phong, Director of the Center for Student Support and Startup Development, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that the number of admissions to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education this year has increased in all admission methods.

Specifically, the number of candidates registering for admission to the school in 2024 is more than 3,000 candidates, double that of 2023. Notably, the number of applications is 2.2 times higher than last year.

Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that the school has about 75,000 applications for admission, double last year's 36,000. The number of candidates has also increased about 2 times.

The predicted admission score for the school based on high school graduation exam scores ranges from 16-24.5.

The University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University revealed that this year the school recorded over 17,000 candidates registering for admission to the school. This number is double that of last year. Meanwhile, the school's quota remains stable, so the level of competition among candidates will increase.

At Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, there are about 30,000 candidates competing for 3,500 quotas based on high school graduation exam scores. The average competition rate for admission to the school is about 1/9 candidates. This rate is even higher in "hot" majors.

Many schools such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Nha Trang University, Saigon University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology, University of Economics and Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking... said the number of candidates' wishes increased.

Schools also predict that benchmark scores will increase in "hot" majors.

Total registrations skyrocketed

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the general admission system recorded more than 733,000 candidates registering for admission (equivalent to 68.5% of the number of high school graduation exam takers), an increase of about 73,000 compared to last year.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that among nearly 400 training majors, divided into 24 fields, there are 4 fields that attract the most candidates this year: Business and management, engineering and technology, computers, and pedagogy.

In particular, the number of applications for teacher training (pedagogy) has increased by 85% compared to last year (equivalent to 200,000 applications).

Some other fields with strong growth in the total number of wishes are natural sciences (up 61%); national security and defense (up 46.5%). With high-tech industries such as semiconductor design, the total number of wishes increased by 30%.

Meanwhile, despite leading for many years, the business and management group saw a decrease of about 3% in the number of wishes (equivalent to 24,000) compared to last year. The computer and information technology group saw a decrease of 5% (equivalent to 15,000).
