1. Tight security
It can be said that to ensure absolute safety for ARMY-2024, the Organizing Committee has prioritized security to avoid unfortunate incidents that may occur while still creating maximum convenience for visiting delegations. Delegations from various countries visit booths at the ARMY-2024 event (Photo: Tien Tuan). Firstly , any individual or organization wishing to be present at the park must register in advance and must have a card issued by the Organizing Committee to enter the event area.
Security is tightened right from the "parking lot" area. In addition to the military and police officers guarding every corner and acting as guides, dozens of police officers equipped with modern specialized equipment and sniffer dogs check all people and vehicles before entering the designated parking lot. Reporters and guests undergo a second security check before entering the event center area (Photo: Tien Tuan). At the next security round, depending on the type of card issued, each person must pass through the designated security gate. Here, in addition to the magnetic door, police officers will check bags and backpacks in detail to see if they are carrying anything suspicious. According to the reporter's records, around the event area, there are many low-altitude air defense missile systems and anti-aircraft artillery with combat crews. This is to absolutely protect the safety of the airspace in the event area. Most visitors were not surprised but even praised the thoughtfulness and professionalism of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the ARMY-2024 Organizing Committee. Looking at the parking lot, many people were stunned by the large number of visitors. According to Dan Tri reporters, from early morning, there was a traffic jam of several kilometers at the entrance to the park.
2. Kh-69 Star and the Absence of Kinzhal "Dagger"
One of the latest weapons that Russia brought to this exhibition is the Kh-69. Boris Obsonov, CEO of Tactical Missiles Company (KRTV), said that through actual combat, this line of air-launched cruise missiles has proven its power. Mr. Obsonov shared that the Kh-69 missile is designed to destroy many fixed ground targets, including communication facilities, stations and traffic junctions, ammunition and fuel depots, ground command posts and communication hubs, aircraft in open-air parking lots, petrochemical facilities, individual industrial structures, energy facilities, targets at enemy sea bases. Notably, the missile can be launched from all Russian multi-role fighters, such as Su-57, Su-75, Su-35, MiG-35... Kh-69 missile on display at the exhibition (Photo: Tien Tuan). When asked whether any customers had expressed interest in entering into an export contract for the Kh-69, Obsonov said that for now, the focus is on production to meet the needs of the Russian military. One of the weapons that many visitors were looking forward to touching or at least seeing on display at ARMY-2024 was not present. That was the Kinzhal (Dagger) hypersonic missile. The leader of KRTV explained that currently, the "Dagger" is still a state-of-the-art weapon containing many technologies and military secrets, so it is not on display.
3. Can you guess what kind of tank this is?
In an inconspicuous corner of the large exhibition area, there are several "strange" tanks. Looking from afar, Dan Tri reporters asked their colleagues from India, Thailand, and Serbia to identify what kind of tanks they were. They all confirmed that they were tanks, but we were at a loss as to what kind of tanks they were. Dan Tri newspaper reporter next to a special camouflaged tank whose exact name few people recognize (Photo: Tien Tuan). Indeed, even those who are knowledgeable about weapons, especially armored vehicles, find it difficult to recognize what type they are because the Russian army covers them with a thick and discreet layer of camouflage that covers most of the distinctive identifying features, making all four tanks look similar and difficult to distinguish. Only when getting really close and looking around for a while can one make a preliminary assessment that is almost accurate but still not 100% certain. Only when reading the introduction board can one breathe a sigh of relief that "it is". The four most modern Russian tanks are ranked in order from newest and most powerful to less modern, respectively T-14 Armata, T-90MS, T-80BVM and T-72B3M.
4. The S-400 missile lies alone
Instead of standing together with its brothers in the main exhibition area of the Almaz Antey Design Bureau, the S-400 air defense missile system, which is attracting the attention of the whole world , stands alone in an inconspicuous position and far from the exhibition area that concentrates the world's leading air defense missile manufacturing agency. The S-400 air defense missile system is displayed in a rather empty corner of the exhibition area (Photo: Tien Tuan) "Chickens from the same mother" but the S-400 is separated and has only one launcher, causing many visitors to wonder. Is this famous long-range air defense missile system losing its position?
It turns out that's not the case, observant people will see that the Antey-4000 (export version of the S-300V4), Buk-M3, Tor-M2E systems all use tracked chassis specifically for the army. That's right, ARMY is the place to display mainly army weapons!
5. Be amazed by the huge area of Patriot Park
Although Patriot Military Park was known to be very large, international reporters initially did not fully realize its scale. A corner of the exhibition center space at Patriot Park (Photo: Tien Tuan). After a morning of non-stop work on the opening day, by the afternoon some people were complaining of sore feet and tired knees from having to move continuously between booths or offices of the leading weapons manufacturing units of the Russian defense industry, which were hundreds of meters apart. Granted, the 5,400-hectare Patriot Park—which opened in 2016 and has hosted many major Russian military events—is certainly not for the untrained or lazy.
