The corporate bond market in 2024 recorded a notable bright spot from the banking group when it continuously had an outstanding issuance volume compared to other industries. Accordingly, 67% of the total value of corporate bonds issued in the first 7 months of this year belonged to banks, equivalent to an issuance value of nearly 123,000 billion VND.
With an overwhelming issuance volume, bank bonds are considered safer than other industries, with a stable 3-5 year long-term interest rate of 5-6%. At the same time, bank bonds also attract long-term investment thanks to higher liquidity than bonds in other industries.
Notably, some banks issue bonds with quite attractive interest rates, close to 7-8%/year. Typically, Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank ( HDBANK ), since the beginning of the year, HDBANK has issued 10 lots of bonds, most of which have interest rates of 7.47%/year and 7.8%/year, with a term of 7-8 years.
Recently, the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank (BVBank) has offered bonds to the public (phase 1) with a fixed interest rate of 7.9%/year for the first year. From the second year, the reference interest rate (based on the average 12-month personal savings interest rate, at the end of the term of 4 banks Vietcombank, Vietinbank, BIDV, Agribank immediately before the annual interest rate adjustment period) + 2.5%/year.
Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank) has also issued 4 public bonds since the beginning of the year with a total mobilized value of 4,800 billion VND. Of which, 2 bond lots have an interest rate of 7.7%/year.
Bao Viet Commercial Joint Stock Bank (BAOVIET Bank) has also successfully issued a bond lot worth 1,000 billion VND with an interest rate of 7.68%/year.
These are banks with interest rates much higher than the current bank bond interest rate level.
In addition, a series of banks issued bonds with interest rates above 6%/year such as: Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB); Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank); Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB); Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development (BIDV); Tien Phong Joint Stock Commercial Bank (TPBank);...
