According to the flight tracking tool Flightradar24, Singapore Airlines appears no longer to be using Iranian airspace for any of its flights on 2 August; EVA Air and China Airlines also appear to be avoiding Iran's airspace during flights to Amsterdam (Netherlands) that same day.

Airlines did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the route change.

OpsGroup, an organization that shares flight risk information, has advised flights between Asia and Europe to avoid Iranian and Iraqi airspace, a day after sources said senior Iranian officials would meet with representatives of allies from Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen to discuss the possibility of Israeli retaliation.

Many airlines, including American and European carriers, have avoided flying over Iran, especially since the Iranian-Israeli missile and drone strikes in April.

According to data from Flightradar24, a Singapore Airlines flight arriving at London's Heathrow Airport in the early morning of 2 August went north into Iran via Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, instead of flying over Iran as on the previous day.

However, a large number of airlines still flew through Iran on 2 August, including United Arab Emirates' Etihad, Emirates and FlyDubai, as well as Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines.

In the past two days, German airline Lufthansa, India's Air India, US carriers United Airlines and Delta Air, as well as Italy's ITA Airways said they had suspended flights to Tel Aviv.

This week, airlines also cancelled and postponed flights to the Lebanese capital Beirut following an attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

On August 1, Canada issued a notice requesting that its aircraft avoid Lebanese airspace for one month due to operational concerns. military could be a threat to the aviation industry.

Over the past month, Britain has warned pilots of potential dangers from air defence weapons and military activity in Lebanese airspace.

OpsGroup said that if a full-scale conflict breaks out in the Middle East, civil aviation routes could be affected by drones and missiles, as well as an increasing risk of GPS tampering due to military and other parties emitting signals tricking GPS systems.
