According to plan, the "apple house" will bring Apple Intelligence (AI system developed by the company) to some devices by the end of this year.

In June, Apple promised AI would improve its Siri voice assistant, expanding its ability to automatically compose emails and create images. However, analysts said users will likely have to pay for more advanced features.

Investing in AI is expensive, and Apple will want to pass that cost on to users, through its Apple One subscription model, said Neil Shah, a partner at Counterpoint Research.

Apple One costs $19.95/month and gives users access to a variety of services, including Apple Music.

In the second quarter, Apple's services division brought in $24.2 billion, amid a backdrop of many other hardware companies still unable to make money from software.

“Apple is one of the few connected device companies that has successfully monetized the value-added services it provides,” said Ben Wood, research director at CCS Insight. “As such, it has set a precedent for users to pay for more premium services. On this basis, it cannot be ruled out that Apple may choose to charge for more advanced features in its Apple Intelligence service.”

Charging for AI services is nothing new. OpenAI also has subscription plans for users who want to use its advanced ChatGPT features, as does Microsoft with AI Copilot.

Meanwhile, Samsung - Apple's direct rival, which has also started rolling out AI services called Galaxy AI, is considering various charging models.

According to Shah, Apple Intelligence is an opportunity for the “Apple” to continue to maintain a loyal customer base because the AI system will learn from user behavior and become more personalized. “As users start using it more and more, they will get used to the AI models, they will be attached to them and it will not be easy to switch from Apple to Android. That is the factor that helps Apple make money.”
