(Dan Tri) - In recent days, people in provinces and cities across the country have responded to the movement "turning every roof into a national flag".
On the morning of August 13, the family of four of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen (36 years old) wore red ao dai and red flag shirts with yellow stars, went to the roof to take photos with the special national flag. A week ago, the flag was made of aluminum (aluminum alloy), installed by the construction team on the roof of Ms. Tuyen's house and agricultural supplies store in Phu Van village (An Thanh commune, Hoai An district, Binh Dinh province). "I want to teach my two children about patriotism," Ms. Tuyen said, adding that she was the first person to carry out this movement in her hometown.

At the end of July, Ms. Tuyen learned about the trend of "turning every roof into a national flag" on social networks, so she wanted to do it to show her patriotism, to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024). Mr. Nguyen Anh Toan (35 years old), the owner of the construction unit, advised Ms. Tuyen to use durable materials instead of using paint that is easily damaged and fades. He sent workers to the roof to measure the standard size according to regulations, and surveyed the location of the flag. From the customer's idea, the design team drew up a drawing, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) on the computer, cut out a 5-pointed star, made an iron frame for the flag underneath, and then covered it with aluminum on the outside. The whole process took only 1.5 days of construction. On the handover day, Mr. Toan hired a crane, carefully lifted the flag onto Ms. Tuyen's corrugated iron roof, and reinforced it to ensure safety. "I was surprised and happy when my "project of the century" was welcomed and responded to by everyone," said Mr. Toan. Every time she went up to the roof and saw the sacred national flag, Ms. Tuyen said she felt a sense of pride. She hopes to spread patriotism, in line with the movement of "making every roof a national flag".

Dinh Huy, from Ninh Thuan , spent an hour painting the national flag on the roof of his 50-square-meter house on August 11. After measuring and using tape to shape the frame of the five-pointed yellow star, he mixed the paint according to the ratio and applied two coats to get the desired yellow color. "I want to contribute to the wave of painting the national flag on roofs across Vietnam, expressing the undying spirit of patriotism," he said. Not only Tuyen or Huy, Vietnamese people in provinces and cities across the country have responded to the movement "every roof is a national flag". This trend appeared since the end of July with the idea of expressing patriotism, national pride and celebrating National Day on September 2. These videos attracted millions of views, tens of thousands of likes and comments. "One day, looking at the map, we will see Vietnam covered with national flags," commented user Hong Ha. "This is the first time I've seen such a meaningful and proud trend. Everyone can show their patriotism in their own home," commented reader Hoang Nam.

Cultural researcher, Dr. Nguyen Anh Hong, commented that young people have good awareness and know how to express national pride and patriotism. They have spread the image of Vietnamese culture through the national flag - one of the most sacred symbols. "That is one of the ways to express love for the country that deserves to be recognized and respected," said Ms. Hong. The female doctor also advised young people to carefully study the color, size, and position of the flag, so that this movement is not just temporary, but has depth, expressing many values. "That is when patriotism both shows solemnity and achieves maximum effectiveness, placing the image of the flag in a space with the best expressive meaning," said researcher Nguyen Anh Hong.

Also from videos on social networks, two brothers Nguyen Ngoc Hien (23 years old) and Nguyen Ngoc Mien (21 years old) in Quoc Oai ( Hanoi ) asked their parents for permission to paint a 5-pointed yellow star on the red corrugated iron roof. The decision of the two brothers was enthusiastically supported by the whole family. On the afternoon of August 11, Hien and his younger brother bought white fishing line, paint, and a roller brush, then went to the roof to measure the size, stretched the string to shape the star, then fixed it with tape, and painted it twice. Because they did not have a flycam (unmanned aerial vehicle), Hien placed his phone in the house next door, filming the entire process of making the flag. The two brothers adjusted the 5-pointed yellow star to be shaped most accurately in the center. "Our feelings are summed up in: pride in the Vietnamese nation," Hien said, adding that they spent 2 hours in the hot sun to paint the flag but did not feel tired at all. "We hope to spread patriotism to those around us, especially the young generation who follow the current social media trends," he said.
