On the afternoon of August 13, a representative of the national airline (Vietnam Airlines) said that during the peak holiday of National Day September 2 for 4 days from August 30 to September 4, the airline increased many flights with the total number of seats provided on the entire network (domestic and international) this time approximately half a million seats (equivalent to nearly 2,500 flights).

In particular, the airline focuses on increasing the frequency of domestic flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Da Lat, Cam Ranh, between Ho Chi Minh City and Hue, Phu Quoc... The total number of domestic seats reaches 330 thousand seats, equivalent to more than 1,700 flights, an increase of more than 19% over the same period in 2023.

“The international routes with the most increased flights are between Vietnam and India, China, Thailand, and Australia. The total number of international seats reached more than 150,000 seats, equivalent to more than 650 flights, a slight increase compared to last year,” said a representative of Vietnam Airlines.

Similarly, from August 30 to September 4, Vietravel Airlines also provided nearly 28,000 seats. The airline representative said that as of now (August 13), the routes with the highest booking rates are Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang/Quy Nhon and Hanoi - Da Nang, Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Bangkok.

Vietnam Airlines recorded that key domestic tourist routes were nearly 50% full and forecasted to continue to increase rapidly in the coming time. International routes to India, China, Thailand, and Australia also achieved positive results with occupancy rates ranging from 50% to 70%.

Ensuring travel during the peak National Day holiday on September 2 is a great effort by airlines in the context of a shortage of aircraft due to manufacturers recalling a series of engines for inspection globally.

In recent months, Vietnam Airlines has received an additional Airbus A320neo and a Boeing 787-10 to enhance its service to serve peak travel demand of passengers.

Similarly, from August to the end of 2024, Vietjet is expected to receive 10 more new-generation aircraft to serve people and tourists on all domestic and international routes.

Bamboo Airways is expected to continue to welcome more aircraft to serve passengers in the fourth quarter of 2024. Along with that, the airline is also trying to increase the average operating hours of aircraft to about 12.5BH/day/aircraft, operating more night flights to maximize the supply capacity during the peak period of National Day on September 2.

Also related to the flight exploitation plan during the National Day on September 2, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just sent a document to domestic airlines requesting them to proactively coordinate with travel businesses to develop programs and exploitation plans to localities and key countries in tourism.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires airlines to report on their fleet operation plans, operation needs, increased flights, and ticket sales, reservations, and seat supply on flights to/from domestic tourist destinations during the National Day holiday on September 2.

According to the ticket sales pages of the airlines, the number of tickets for flights is quite abundant. Ticket prices have cooled down compared to the beginning of the year.

For a smooth trip, experts recommend that passengers book tickets earlier than the expected departure date to have more flight options and increase the possibility of buying attractive ticket prices.

At the same time, passengers should use self-check-in methods before the flight to save time such as: Automatic check-in via website, mobile application (mobile check-in), telephone (telephone check-in) or at self-check-in counters (kiosk check-in).
