Today, August 12, the Department of Higher Education, the Department of Information Technology (Ministry of Education and Training) and universities will coordinate to review data on the system to prepare for virtual filtering to process admission requests.
How is virtual filtering done?
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the virtual filtering process is the use of admission software to filter out candidates who have passed their higher admission wishes to other schools from the expected admission list that the school sends to the system.
This ensures that each candidate is only admitted to one wish in one method in the list of wishes that candidates register to be eligible for admission, according to the principle of prioritizing higher wishes.
The virtual filtering was carried out by the Ministry of Education and Training 6 times according to the process, starting from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 17. After that, the schools downloaded the results of the 6th round of processing and prepared to announce the admission benchmark scores.
In addition, two virtual filtering groups of schools in the North (coordinated by Hanoi University of Science and Technology) and the South (coordinated by Ho Chi Minh City National University) will also run in parallel with the general virtual filtering process of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Before 5:00 p.m. on August 17, schools will enter the admission scores and admission results into the system, review and prepare to announce the first round of admission results for preschool education universities and colleges in 2024.
According to data released by the Ministry of Education and Training, the number of candidates registering for admission to universities and colleges in preschool education in 2024 is 733,652 (accounting for 68.48% of high school exam takers), higher than last year (65.90% of exam takers).
This year, there are 337,743 high school exam candidates who did not register for university admission in the first round this year.
The virtual filtering system will operate as follows: all candidates, regardless of the method of admission, will register online on the common portal of the Ministry of Education and Training within the prescribed time.
The wishes are arranged in order from one to the end, in which wish 1 is the highest.
At the end of the registration period, schools download the data of candidates registering for admission to their schools from the software, run their own admission software and update the results of successful candidates back to the ministry's common software to run virtual filtering on the entire system.
The system does not consider admissions on behalf of schools.
The Ministry of Education and Training reminds schools: The admission application processing system only filters out candidates who have passed lower admissions to other schools from the expected admission list that the school sends to the system, and does not have the function of adjusting the quota and benchmark scores that the school has determined.
The system does not consider admission on behalf of schools. Schools will receive full priority information of candidates after candidates register for admission on the system.
Candidates only register for admission by major. Therefore, schools that use many methods and combinations of admission must consider all methods and combinations of admission for candidates (if they meet the regulations) according to the announced admission plan and be responsible for explaining the candidates' admission results.
The Ministry of Education and Training also requires: "Schools must absolutely comply with and unify the implementation of regulations on the admission list. The official list of admitted candidates is the list of candidates sent back to the school by the admission application processing system (based on the list of expected admitted candidates uploaded by the school to the system) after processing the application for the last time on August 17. Schools are absolutely not allowed to adjust this official admission list."
Candidates are not required to enroll before August 19.
The Ministry of Education and Training will return the results of the 6th virtual filtering to schools to arrange, balance and prepare for the announcement of the benchmark scores at 4:00 p.m. on August 17.
The Department of Higher Education noted that schools must require all candidates to confirm their admission online on the system, before enrolling at the school.
The Ministry has also requested that universities not require candidates to confirm their admission before August 19, and not to end admission confirmation or end admission before 5:00 p.m. on August 27 (including for joint training programs with foreign countries).
