Production value increased

On August 5, 2024, Mr. Truong Van Minh - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Kien Giang province - said that the province's industrial production achieved a fairly good growth rate, much higher than the same period last year, with many industries on the path of recovery and positive development, especially the processing and manufacturing industry achieving high growth rates.

Specifically, the industrial production value in the first 7 months of Kien Giang province reached more than 30,576 billion VND (more than 1.2 billion USD), reaching 56.16% of the plan and increasing by 12.44% over the same period in 2023; in which, the processing and manufacturing industry continued to play a leading role, creating a value of more than 29,327 billion VND, up 12.58%, accounting for about 96% of the total industrial production value.

The province implements policies to support people and businesses facing difficulties to recover and boost production and business, combining measures to stimulate domestic consumption and import and export of goods.

However, the province's industrial production activities still face difficulties and disadvantages such as in July, the stormy weather was complicated, prices showed signs of increasing after the implementation of wage reform from July 1; input material prices for cement production increased, local shortages of aquatic raw materials... have affected the production of some industrial products and many other difficulties and shortcomings.

For the development of industrial zones and clusters, the province has implemented compensation, site clearance, investment promotion, infrastructure investment support, and improved the investment and business environment. Thereby, it has attracted more businesses to invest in infrastructure development and production and business investment.

Up to now, industrial parks and clusters in the area have attracted 28 investment projects with a total registered capital of VND8,337 billion; of which, 21 projects have come into production and business; the occupancy rate of Thanh Loc Industrial Park (Chau Thanh) is 63%, Thuan Yen (Ha Tien) is 25.84% and Vinh Hoa Hung Nam Industrial Cluster (Go Quao) is 89.3%; industrial parks and clusters have created jobs for about 13,580 workers.

Continue to achieve the set goals

The province sets a target that the industrial production value in the last 5 months of the year is estimated to reach more than 24,890 billion VND, and in 2024 it will reach over 55,467 billion VND, equal to 101.88% of the plan and an increase of 10.02% compared to 2023.

To achieve this goal, the provincial authorities closely monitor the operations of enterprises, promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct the removal of difficulties for enterprises, help enterprises stabilize, recover and develop faster, promote production and export activities to ensure the growth target set for 2024.

At the same time, continue to effectively implement the plan on performing tasks and solutions for industrial development and restoring industrial production in the province.

In addition, the province issued policies to support the development of industrial clusters, implemented plans to develop industrial zones and clusters according to the provincial planning to promote investment in infrastructure development and attract investment in production and business.

In addition, Kien Giang province encourages and supports businesses to participate in investing in renewable energy development in the province according to the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
