The move comes as the US beefs up its forces in the region ahead of a possible Iranian attack on Israel. Earlier on August 5, about 10 F/A-18 fighter jets from the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier landed at a military base in the Middle East.
AFP news agency reported that on social media, the US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that this event was part of "changes in forces in the region to reduce the risk of escalation", but did not specify the number or exact location of the F-22s.
On the same day, the leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, affirmed that retaliation against Israel was inevitable.
According to the Houthi leader, the delay of this force and its regional allies in retaliating against Israel's latest moves was purely a tactical decision to ensure a significant impact in the context of the enemy's preparations.
Also on August 8, the government of the Republic of Cyprus announced its readiness to assist in the evacuation of Europeans and citizens of third countries if the conflict in the Middle East worsens, with the activation of the ESTIA plan.
