Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Thu Hang |
Regarding this issue, Ms. Pham Thu Hang affirmed that cooperation in overcoming the consequences of war is still considered the foundation of the relationship between Vietnam and the US. This cooperation contributes significantly to the process of reconciliation, healing and building trust between the two countries, opening up new opportunities for cooperation in other important areas.
“We know that many cooperation projects between Vietnam and the US in this field are continuing to be implemented or restarted, including projects to clear mines and explosives left over from the war and to detoxify Bien Hoa airport,” said the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson.
According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, the continued and effective implementation of these projects will make practical contributions to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries.
Also at the press conference, answering the question of whether Vietnam can avoid US tariffs in the context of Vietnam actively negotiating with the US on tariffs recently, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said:
“Vietnam's stance on the new tax policy of the Trump administration was made clear on February 13.
On the basis of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace, Cooperation and Sustainable Development, Vietnam has been closely coordinating with the US to maintain the positive development momentum of bilateral trade relations.
In the coming time, Vietnam is ready to exchange and work in a constructive and cooperative spirit with the US side to share information, enhance understanding, and remove existing obstacles to contribute to the stable and sustainable development of bilateral economic relations, meeting the interests of both sides."
