According to the hydrological forecast bulletin on rivers, canals and streams in An Giang province, the upstream water level measured on Tien River at Tan Chau on August 9 was 2.18m, 0.09m higher than the same period last year and 0.52m lower than the average of many years.

Flood water level is forecasted to reach 2.14m on August 10. On the Hau River in Chau Doc, the water level measured on August 9 was 2.23m, 0.31m higher than the same period last year and 0.04m higher than the average of many years. The water level is forecasted to reach 2.19m on August 10.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Phung The Vinh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Phu district - said that currently, the flood water level from the upstream has overflowed into communes bordering Cambodia such as Phu Hoi, Nhon Hoi, Phu Huu... Linh fish and other products of the flood season also appear in large numbers at An Phu border markets.

In 2024, An Phu plans to release floodwaters from the fields of three communes on the eastern bank, with an area of ​​over 8,000 hectares. This field specializes in producing two rice crops.

"We are waiting for farmers to finish harvesting the summer-autumn rice and then working with the communes to agree on releasing floodwaters to remove acidity and wash away alum in the three communes on the eastern bank. This year's floodwaters are a bit higher than the same period last year," said Mr. Vinh.
