On the morning of August 1, many students in Hanoi returned to school after a two-month summer vacation. They will participate in summer activities several days a week to get used to studying again.
According to school leaders, in August, students will participate in summer activities organized by the school on some days of the week. This is to help students gradually get used to the school routine after two months of being completely at home.
Ms. Nguyen Thi La (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) said that her child will attend summer school three mornings a week at school. "He is used to waking up late, so this morning, I had to call him many times to get him up early to go to school, arriving at school close to the gathering time," Ms. La said.
According to Ms. La, letting her child go to school early will help her child gradually regain the habit of waking up early after two months of eating and sleeping comfortably. When she goes to school, she will have teachers and friends, and will not have to stay home alone.
"However, there are also difficulties when children only study for half a day and parents have to arrange time to pick them up," Ms. La shared.
To overcome this difficulty, Ms. Do Minh Huong (Dong Da district, Hanoi) said that she and a number of parents are petitioning the school to organize all-day summer activities with meals, making it more convenient for parents to pick up and drop off their children.
Previously, some non-public schools had gathered students and organized summer activities since early July.
The new school year plan is usually announced by the Department of Education and Training in the first half of August. Every year, the official school calendar is usually in the third week of August. Students will have about 2-3 weeks to get acquainted with their new school and prepare for the opening ceremony, especially for first-year students.
Students will start the new school year on the opening day, September 5, the day the whole nation sends children to school.
