In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son acknowledged that the press always accompanies and shares with the education sector. The National Press Award "For the Cause of Vietnam's Education" is a playground for reporters and journalists to have more motivation and exchange. Each year, the Organizing Committee draws experience to make the Award more meaningful, bring great value and spread positive values to society.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Award aims to honor reporters, journalists and teachers, who are typical and advanced examples in teaching and learning. In addition to reflecting "hot" issues, examples and models, the Deputy Minister hopes that the entries will address systemic issues with long-term impacts such as: Policies and guidelines of the Party, State and Ministry of Education and Training.
The Deputy Minister also respectfully acknowledged the visionary works, with forecasts to help the education sector have more basis to perfect policies. With his experience and capacity, the Deputy Minister believes that reporters and journalists will choose good topics, sharp topics to invest in deeply to participate in the Award. Hopefully, all reporters and journalists participating will win awards this year.
Regarding the rules, journalist Trieu Ngoc Lam - Editor-in-Chief of Education and Times Newspaper, Permanent Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee said: Authors participating in the Award are Vietnamese citizens, including professional and non-professional journalists, with excellent press works published in mass media licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications, in accordance with the Award's criteria.
Authors participating in the Award must not violate the Code of Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists, the Press Law and other laws. Each author or group of authors may submit a maximum of 5 works to the Award. Members of the Award Judging Council, the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee must not submit works to the Award.

Journalistic works participating in the Award are works in Vietnamese published and broadcast on mass media from September 5, 2023 to September 5, 2024. If the work is published and broadcast in installments, at least 2/3 of the works must be within the above-mentioned period. Works awaiting evaluation and conclusion by competent authorities; works that have won the National Press Award or other specialized National Press Awards will not be considered. The works must ensure that there are no copyright disputes from the time of publication.
Regarding the criteria for awarding the Prize, the work must ensure authenticity, accuracy, objectivity, and have the right ideological and political orientation. The content of the work must raise issues related to Education that are of public interest; have the quality of discovery, summary or guidance, be convincing and have high social effectiveness; have an attractive and creative method of expression; and have a positive impact on the work of educational innovation. Works of a fictional nature will not be considered. Typical educational activities have been and are being implemented in localities and educational institutions at all levels from preschool to university.
Collectives and individuals have many outstanding solutions, results, achievements, and innovations in teaching and learning in the spirit of Resolution No. 29-NQ/TU in 2013 of the Central Executive Committee on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the conditions of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration. Touching stories, influential, positive and inspiring to society about the image of teachers and their contributions to the country's education cause.
Last season, the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee received nearly 800 entries in 4 types of journalism, including: Print, electronic, radio and television; published and broadcast on mass media from September 5, 2022 to September 5, 2023. The quality of the entries was quite good, reflecting the lives of teachers and closely following current issues in the education sector. This year, the Organizing Committee hopes to continue to receive positive responses from journalists, reporters, and collaborators from central and local press agencies across the country. We hope that the 7th National Press Award "For the Cause of Vietnam Education" - 2024 and the following years will continue to receive active responses, participation, and contributions from press agencies, reporters, and journalists, contributing excellent press works on education.

At the press conference, representatives of the Organizing Committee discussed and answered the suggestions of reporters and journalists for the Press Award for the Cause of Vietnamese Education. Regarding the proposal to add the photojournalism category, journalist Trieu Ngoc Lam, Editor-in-Chief of the Education and Times Newspaper, said: The Organizing Committee of the Award has paid attention to this and will make necessary preparations, ask for opinions, survey, evaluate... carefully to be able to include photojournalism in the press categories participating in the Award; meeting the quality requirements as well as the expectations of readers.
Responding to the question about the quality of the works submitted to the Award over the past 6 years, journalist Trieu Ngoc Lam informed that each year the Organizing Committee receives nearly 1,000 entries; the number of works in all 4 categories is increasingly diverse, and the quality is also increasingly improved. In particular, the number of multimedia integrated press works, ensuring the standards of press works in the context of press modernization in the current period, demonstrating the professional ability and serious investment of the author... is increasingly abundant.
Regarding the opinion that the Organizing Committee would like to share information about the typical person after being selected, journalist Trieu Ngoc Lam affirmed that the Organizing Committee always cares about teachers and this care and support is a process. Besides the support of the Organizing Committee and the support from social work, the teachers also received gifts of gratitude from many readers nationwide.
Affirming that the Organizing Committee always respects the entries and does not discriminate between positive or negative feedback, Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Professional Committee, Vietnam Journalists Association, member of the Organizing Committee emphasized that all press works that have a positive impact on the Education sector are welcome.
The organizers encourage works to raise issues, discover problems, contradictions and factors that lead to obstacles affecting the education sector. However, when writing about negativity, there must be a motive to promote education development, analyze the system of causes and accompanying solutions, and not raise issues or "look for the needle in a haystack".
“We will consider the commitment and ethical values of the journalist. A winning work must bring values to the education sector, creating positive changes in practice” - Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang emphasized and encouraged both central and local newspapers to actively participate.
