The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that this afternoon and tonight, the above areas will continue to have showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15-30mm, locally over 70mm.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of the Weather Forecast Department, said that the rain in the North that has lasted from July 28th to now could last until around August 3-4th. From August 5th, heavy rains will gradually decrease and then from August 6-7th, the weather will be sunny. From August 8-11th, the northern provinces are likely to experience a heat wave.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has just made an assessment of the meteorological situation nationwide in the next week (August 3-9, 2024).
Specifically, in the Northern region, from August 3-4, there will be showers and thunderstorms in some places, while the Northwest and Viet Bac regions will have moderate rain and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy to very heavy rain.
From August 5-7, the area will start to have sunshine and it will increase; but in the evening and at night there is still a possibility of local thunderstorms, especially in the Northwest region on August 5, there will be scattered thunderstorms.
On August 8, the North will have localized heat waves and especially from the 9th, there will be widespread heat waves; there will be localized thunderstorms in the late afternoon and at night. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
For the Central region, from August 3-4, sunny days, with localized heat in the Central and South Central regions; thunderstorms in some places in the afternoon and evening. From August 5-6, hot weather in some places will increase to severe levels from August 7-9; there will still be localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
In the Central Highlands and Southern regions, during the forecast period (August 3-9), sunny days will be maintained, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.

Hanoi's weather is similar to the Northern Delta region. Specifically, from August 3-4, there will be showers and thunderstorms in some places (rain concentrated at night and in the morning). From August 5-7, sunny days; localized thunderstorms in the evening and at night.
Notably, from August 8-9, the area will be hot and sunny, with the possibility of localized showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and at night.

Forecasting further, the meteorological agency said that in August, the average temperature across the country will generally be 0.5-1 degree higher than the average of many years (TBNN) for the same period. Heat waves will continue to occur in the Northern and Central regions but the intensity will not be too severe.
During this period, rainfall in the Northern region was approximately equal to the average for the same period (5-10% higher than the average); in the Central region, rainfall was lower than the average for the same period (15-30% lower than the average); in the Central Highlands and the Southern region, rainfall was approximately equal to the average for the same period (5-10% lower).
In addition, during the forecast period, the Northern, Central Highlands and Southern regions will have many rainy days, including the possibility of some widespread moderate and heavy rains. Thunderstorms in these areas may be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
In addition, the Hydrometeorological Station of the Northern Delta and Midlands region assessed that in August, the East Sea is likely to have 1-2 storms and tropical depressions that will affect Hanoi. In the middle and end of the month, Hanoi will have 1-2 large-scale heavy rains. After the current rain, Hanoi will be affected by 1-2 heat waves.
