Speaking at the 2024 Higher Education Conference held on the morning of August 9 in Hanoi, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy - Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), said that in recent years, the research results and international publications of the Vietnamese higher education system have tended to increase steadily and sustainably, in which higher education institutions have always played a leading role in the country's scientific publications.
In 2023, units under the ministry published 1,159 Q1 articles, 1,052 Q2 articles in prestigious international journals in the WoS category; 3,244 articles in Scopus scientific journals.
Regarding the number of articles published in Scopus publications in 3 years (from January 2022 to the end of July 2024), only 67 higher education institutions accounted for 83.5% of the country's articles.

The results also show that natural sciences and engineering are a major strength in scientific publications of higher education institutions.
Ms. Thuy commented that from this trend, it can be seen that schools are focusing on quality magazines and no longer just chasing quantity. Many topics make important contributions to industries and socio-economic development...
However, according to Ms. Thuy, there are still shortcomings from previous years that have not been immediately overcome, scientific research activities are relatively small and scattered, and have not made outstanding contributions.
In particular, the participation of businesses in the process of cooperation with universities in placing research orders is still limited compared to practical needs.

Add more journals to the group of prestigious international journals
In 2024, the ACI system announced the results of journal evaluation, Vietnam had 11 more journals joining the system.
Of which, there are 4 journals of Hanoi National University: Journal of Mathematics and Physics, Journal of Educational Research, Journal of Natural Sciences and Technology, Journal of Medical Sciences; Journal of International Management and Economics of Foreign Trade University; Journal of Science of Quy Nhon University; Journal of Agriculture and Development of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry; Journal of Science of Tra Vinh University.
Previously, on December 10, 2023, the Journal of Economics and Development (JED) of the National Economics University was officially listed in the Scopus list. This is the second journal among the journals of schools under the Ministry of Education and Training to successfully join the Scopus list.
With JED journal joining Scopus, from now on, Vietnamese scientists in the field of economics can participate in publishing international journals at JED, not just publishing in international journals as before.
