According to statistics, the provinces that will hold the 10th grade exam in 2025 in May include: Bac Lieu, Lai Chau, Binh Duong, Dong Nai. The remaining provinces will mostly hold the exam from June 1-8.
This year, according to the new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, most provinces organizing the 10th grade entrance exam will choose 3 subjects: Math, Literature, and English. Most provinces and cities will choose the third subject in the 10th grade exam for public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year as Foreign Language (or English only), only Ha Giang will choose History and Geography.
Binh Thuan also chooses to take Math, Literature, History - Geography exams, but only for candidates taking the exam to enter the provincial Ethnic Boarding High School.
Some provinces and cities combine the entrance exam and selection methods.
Ha Tinh and Tuyen Quang organized the 10th grade exam in 1 day.
Lam Dong, Phu Yen, Gia Lai, Ca Mau, Vinh Long are 5 localities organizing admission to non-specialized public grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year by selection.

According to the new regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, there are 3 methods of admission to grade 10 of high school: entrance exam, selection or a combination of entrance exam and selection. The selection of the admission method is under the authority of each locality.
Regarding the entrance exam method for grade 10 high school, in order to ensure consistency and implement the viewpoint of organizing a light and economical exam, the Ministry of Education and Training generally stipulates the organization of 3 subjects or exams, including: Math, Literature and a third subject or exam selected by the Department of Education and Training. The third subject is selected from the subjects assessed by scores in the general education program at the secondary level, ensuring that the same third subject is not selected for more than 3 consecutive years. The third exam is a combination exam of a number of subjects selected from the subjects assessed by scores in the general education program at the secondary level.
For high schools under the Ministry of Education and Training, universities, academies, and research institutes that organize their own entrance exams, the third subject or combined exam will be selected by the directly managing unit.
