On April 29, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held a ceremony to honor two students Nguyen Tri Hien and Nguyen Tri Hau (11th graders majoring in Mathematics, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted) for winning Gold Medals at the 2nd Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad in 2025. The competition gathered more than 230 students from 15 countries.

The Vietnamese delegation participating in the exam includes 6 students ranked from 7th to 12th in the exam to select the team to participate in the International Mathematics Olympiad.

At this international playground, the two representatives of Quang Nam province both achieved the highest scores in the Vietnamese delegation with 40/50 points.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province awarded a Certificate of Merit and a bonus of 150 million VND to each student (Nguyen Tri Hien and Nguyen Tri Hau) in recognition of their excellent achievements.

In addition, Quang Nam Provincial Youth Union also awarded Certificates of Merit to commend the two students' efforts in studying.

Previously, as VietNamNet reported, the two brothers Hien and Hau, although coming from a rural area with difficult initial learning conditions, made efforts to self-study and showed outstanding abilities.

These twin brothers are not only good students but also have many similar achievements in Math.

Specifically, in grade 9, both won first prize in the provincial math competition. In grade 10, they both took the provincial math competition for grade 12 students, Hien won first prize and Hau won second prize. That same year, both were selected to "skip a level" to take part in the national math competition and both won the Encouragement Prize.

This year in grade 11, the two brothers continued to win first prize in the provincial math competition, then first prize nationally (out of 16 national first prizes) before participating in the selection round for the International Mathematical Olympiad. In this round, Hau ranked 7th, Hien ranked 9th, and both lacked a bit of luck to be on the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad team. However, the two were selected for the team to compete in the Mathematical Olympiad organized by Turkmenistan and won 2 Gold Medals.
