GenZ - the young generation of the new era - is deeply aware that freedom and peace are great achievements but also great responsibilities that every young citizen needs to continue to cultivate and protect.

GenZ's understanding of the historic April 30, 1975 is based on the memories of their grandparents, who sacrificed their youth, "put down their pens and went to war", and went through a fierce but glorious war; historical stories are deeply engraved in their hearts through every page of books and history lessons...
Although they did not experience the war, they grew up with the pride of previous generations, so even though society has changed a lot, the meaning of the April 30 milestone cannot fade in the hearts of GenZ. It is also a part of national memory, a pride that is inherited and continued.
Sung Thi Van, a GenZ Lo Lo ethnic, Ha Giang, studying at the Academy of Public Administration and Management, shared, “These days in April, when I travel, I always feel: “Being Vietnamese, I am so proud”. And I feel lucky because we young people have many reasons to love our country. A peaceful, beautiful, happy country, with a glorious historical tradition.

For Sung Van himself, independence and peace are two extremely sacred words, to obtain them is not easy, it is exchanged with the blood and bones of previous generations. Van often reminds himself, always be grateful and cherish what he has, constantly trying to make efforts every day to be able to contribute a small part of his efforts in the work of preserving these priceless values.
Ngoc Anh, a senior student at the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts, VNU, shared that the victory on April 30, 50 years ago, opened a new era - the era of independence, freedom, and unity.
“For me, independence and peace means waking up every morning without worrying about falling bombs or stray bullets, living under a peaceful blue sky, going to school, dreaming, pursuing passions and being in control of my own future. These seemingly normal things were achieved thanks to the blood and bones of previous generations - this is also what we, the young generation today, are inheriting and also have the responsibility to preserve.”

Ngoc Anh is grateful for the historic milestone of April 30, 1975. It is always a reminder to the younger generation of the meaning of faith, of the strength of national unity, of the aspiration to rise strongly in the period of deep international integration. From that historical event, GenZ deeply realizes that freedom and peace are great achievements but also great responsibilities that every young citizen needs to continue to cultivate and protect.

Born in an era of rapid technological development and constant economic and social change, GenZ has access to a variety of domestic and foreign information sources. From there, today's young generation has formed their own perspective on freedom, peace and unity - the values that their ancestors shed blood to regain.
Ha Trang, a GenZ in Hanoi, confided that in today's modern life, it seems like everyone's private world has shrunk into electronic devices. History lessons in school are somewhat "dry", causing them to "neglect" their interest in history and the society around them.
However, that is not the case, with GenZ, the way to express “patriotism” is very different. You may be willing to queue up to receive special publications celebrating holidays; or be willing to travel long distances to watch military parades at national celebrations, spend time participating in cultural programs, promoting the country’s culture, etc.
"It can be said that when the opportunity comes, as an instinct, young people express their patriotism and gratitude in the purest way for the above values in their own, special, new and non-stereotypical way" - Ha Trang commented.
Agreeing with Ha Trang's story, Ngoc Anh continued to say that every Vietnamese person, growing up on the S-shaped land, has a passionate love for the country, and so does our young generation.

There is a saying that has been very popular on social media platforms recently: “Patriotism is not a trend, patriotism is in our genes”. It sounds like a funny saying, but I think it is a very sincere confession of Gen Z - young people who can listen to international music, study in modern education systems, but their hearts still flutter when they hear the National Anthem, shed tears when they watch historical films about the previous generation, or smile happily with a red flag with a yellow star on their chest...
During the days of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, it is not difficult to see images of young people wearing white ao dai, red flag with yellow star, checking in at historical sites with the national flag.
And when going to historical places such as the Vietnam Military History Museum, Ho Chi Minh Museum,... you can also see many young people coming to learn and look back at a part of the heroic memories of the nation. Thus, it can be seen that young people are still very interested in history, in their roots, they are just expressing that feeling in their own way.

50 years have passed since the country was reunited, and today Vietnam is entering a period of strong development, comprehensive and deep integration with the world. GenZ - the young generation of the new era - is continuing the strong will and burning desire of their ancestors, both proud of the past and confident in moving forward in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
However, instead of holding guns, young people have become important "soldiers" on an equally fierce front, the ideological front, especially in cyberspace. With the "flatness" of social networks, all values can be discussed, compared and "leveled". So how to preserve identity, protect historical values and national honor in the digital age is one of the important tasks of the current GenZ generation.

On April 26, a group of students from the Faculty of Communication, Dai Nam University successfully defended their school-level scientific research topic "Raising awareness of students majoring in communication and journalism at universities/academies in Hanoi about the content of propaganda of the "Color Revolution" on the Tiktok platform".
Sharing about the topic, representative of the research group, student Nguyen Thuy Linh majoring in Multimedia Communications, said that the content of "Color Revolution" on TikTok is often subtly integrated into videos, and due to the lack of strictness in community standards, information classification, and content censorship of the platform, TikTok has become a favorable environment for information about "Color Revolution" to spread widely. In addition, some groups of young people today often lack information filtering skills, only listen to information from one side, they are easily lured and provoked.
It can be said that students of Communication/Journalism are not only information recipients but also those who will participate in producing and orienting information in the future. Equipping them with the ability to identify early and be "immune" to propaganda tricks of false content on popular platforms like TikTok is extremely important. It not only helps protect themselves but also helps them become responsible media workers, creating healthy and objective information products in the future.

On the other hand, it is a good sign that some parts of today's young generation express their national pride and patriotism in many different ways. This can be seen most clearly on major national holidays such as April 30, September 2, etc. They want to express their gratitude to their ancestors who sacrificed to protect national independence through unique creative videos or changing their profile picture to a red flag with a yellow star frame.
The survey results of 500 students by the research team showed that 95.6% used Zalo, followed by Facebook (93.3%) and YouTube (92.9%). The percentage of students using social networks daily reached 97.9%, of which 30.8% spent 1-2 hours/day and 17.7% used 2-3 hours/day. Notably, 75.7% of students expressed their trust in the Party's guidelines and policies, while 76.1% had faith in the State's legal system.
Head of the Faculty of Communication, Dai Nam University, Dr. Tran Van Le, assessed that the research team, mostly senior students, was very "brave" in choosing a difficult topic about "Color Revolution" on the Tiktok platform.

The topic directly promotes the training of critical thinking - a vital skill in the era of information explosion. When identifying the content of "Color Revolution" propaganda, young people will be more aware of the complexity of information on the Internet, thereby being more careful in receiving, verifying and sharing information, while strengthening their political capacity.
50 years after the historic victory of liberating the South and reunifying the country, Vietnam is facing challenges not only in traditional national defense and security, but also in ideological security and media security in the digital environment.

Hostile forces today no longer mainly use weapons, but focus on "peaceful evolution", "color revolution", attacking the awareness and ideology, especially of the youth - the generation born after the unification day.
Therefore, this topic not only has academic significance but is also a practical action to contribute to protecting the great revolutionary achievements, by strengthening the "ideological citadel" in the hearts of the young generation in the digital environment.
This topic aims to enhance the ideological and political resistance of students - the future intellectual force - against propaganda, distortion and incitement on social networks.
Demonstrating the responsibility of today's young generation towards history: Not only being grateful to the past through historical lessons, but also proactively protecting the ideological foundation that many generations of fathers and brothers shed blood to build.
At the same time, contributing to building a "strong media front" in the new era: From the TikTok environment - a platform that seems to be "just for fun" - the topic has warned, raised awareness, encouraged students to become active content creators, know how to select information, and fight against bad and toxic information.
The topic shows that today's students of communication and journalism have an important role in this "silent front".
50 years have passed since April 30, 1975. The beauty and value of freedom, peace and unity from the perspective of GenZ - the young generation of the era has become "immortal", a guiding light, a driving force for each young person to firmly move forward, contributing to realizing the aspiration to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as President Ho Chi Minh's sacred instructions.
