On the morning of April 30, in the bustling atmosphere of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, from early morning, the streets everywhere were filled with red flags with yellow stars, the flow of people on the streets seemed to slow down. The people of Dat Thu excitedly experienced every special and sacred moment of the country's great holiday.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, who lives in Chanh Nghia Ward (Thu Dau Mot City), said he woke up very early to exercise. This morning, he did not rush home but stopped by a coffee shop on the corner to read the newspaper, review the country's historical milestones with friends, and watch the live broadcast of the parade on TV.
Around the intersection, the Traditional House of Thu Dau Mot City, groups of young women in Ao Dai, multi-generational families wearing uniforms with the national flag on their faces were radiant and proud. They were taking the opportunity to record the bustling moments of the important holiday.
Ms. Lo Tat Binh, a retired teacher living in Phu Cuong ward, shared: "Today is a very special day. I woke up very early and put on an ao dai with the national flag on it. I want to capture the happy moments and the pride of the nation through these images."
Some young people said they were lucky to be born in peacetime, enjoying the fruits of independence for which their ancestors had fallen. That is why they want to preserve these beautiful images of the nation's great day.
Mr. Huynh Van Tai, Head of the Aerobic Folk Dance Club (Phu Hoa Ward, Thu Dau Mot City) said that this year's ceremony was organized solemnly and magnificently.
"Through television, newspapers and social networks, I see that Vietnamese people are very patriotic and love peace. Thanks to this event, I have learned more about history, and thanks to this event, our people's solidarity has become even stronger. Today, our club also organizes cultural activities and quizzes with the theme of history," Mr. Tai added.
Meanwhile, some small traders in the markets were both trading and holding their smartphones to update news about today's great holiday. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh and the traders were drinking tea while watching the live broadcast of the 30-4 holiday on their phones.
Instead of going out to take pictures and check in on the holiday, most families in Binh Duong stayed home to reunite and watch the live broadcast of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
For many families, this is a special, emotional, proud moment, when the family gathers together to review the country's historical moments.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Khen (Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city) and her husband sat watching TV with great concentration because they didn't want to miss a single moment...
