In the opening match of the 2025 World Carom Billiards 3-Cushion Team Championship on March 13, the Vietnamese team had a perfect record against the Jordanian team. Tran Quyet Chien won 40-19 against Mashhour Abu Tayeh, while Bao Phuong Vinh defeated Ahmed Al Ghababsheh with a score of 40-7. The perfect record in the first match helped the Vietnamese team currently stand at number 1 in Group C.

In the second match this afternoon (March 14), the Vietnamese team will meet the Belgian team. Tran Quyet Chien will face Peter Ceulemans, while Bao Phuong Vinh will face Roland Forthomme. Both matches will take place at 5 p.m. (Vietnam time).

Tran Quyet Chien confronts "legend" Blomdahl

Unlike the first round, when the Jordan team was considered much weaker and had no chance to cause a surprise. The two players from Belgium are skilled and are familiar faces in world tournaments such as the World Cup billiards. Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh are expected to face many difficulties in the second round and the final result is very difficult to predict. In theory, the two Vietnamese players are still considered higher, but they need to maintain stability and play at their full potential to win.

Regarding Tran Quyet Chien and Peter Ceulemans, the last time these two players met was at the World Cup stage held in Veghel (Netherlands) in October 2024. At that time, the number 1 Vietnamese player won 50-37 against Ceulemans in the semi-finals, then continued to defeat another Belgian player, Frederic Caudron, to win the championship.

After the second round, the Vietnamese team will continue to compete in the final round of Group C at 2:00 a.m. on March 15 (Vietnam time), against the Swedish team. Tran Quyet Chien will face Torbjorn Blomdahl, while Bao Phuong Vinh will face Nalle Olsson. Blomdahl is considered a "living legend" of the world's 3-cushion carom billiards village, having won 46 World Cup titles, including 7 World Championship titles.
