The registration will also create more resources for preserving and promoting heritage values, supporting sustainable and inclusive economic and cultural development in localities and communities.

Previously, the dossier of the Via Ba Chua Xu Sam Mountain festival submitted to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for inclusion in the list of representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity was raised during the working session of Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien with the leaders of An Giang province on the afternoon of June 1, 2016 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In 2020, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism submitted a document to the Prime Minister allowing the Ministry to coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and localities to develop a heritage dossier expected to be submitted to UNESCO, including the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival. By March 2022, the dossier of the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival had been approved by the Government to be submitted to UNESCO for consideration of inclusion in the list of representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

In July 2023, the Secretariat of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage sent an official dispatch to the Department of Cultural Heritage confirming that the dossier of the Via Ba Chua Xu Sam Mountain Festival is being appraised for consideration of inclusion in the 2024 review cycle at the 19th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 Convention, held in Paraguay from December 2, 2024 to December 7, 2024.
