As members of the African group that has been with Quang Linh Vlogs for many years in Angola, Hung Kaka and his partner Thanh Paulo (both from Nghe An) are loved by many people for their simple, friendly and humorous personalities.

In addition to farming and supporting people in remote villages in Angola with agricultural cultivation, Hung Kaka and Thanh Paulo also try to spread and promote Vietnamese culture by regularly cooking and instructing local people how to prepare typical dishes of their homeland such as: beef noodle soup, spring rolls, sticky rice with beans, etc.

They hope that these simple meals will help locals regain energy after a hard week of work and prepare them for the new work week, while also spreading the unique culinary culture of their homeland Vietnam.

In a recent video posted on a YouTube channel with over 750,000 followers, Hung Kaka and Thanh Paulo show off their skills in preparing a familiar Vietnamese dish to treat the villagers. That is egg bread.

Hung Kaka revealed that every weekend he often cooks delicious Vietnamese dishes to nourish and encourage his team leaders and group members at the farm. They prioritize dishes that are easy to cook, do not take much time and can use available ingredients from the farm such as chicken eggs, duck eggs, vegetables, etc.

To make egg bread, Hung Kaka and Thanh Paulo went to the poultry farm and collected more than 30 newly laid eggs. They also prepared bread, cucumbers, onions, green onions, and coriander.

After preparing and washing the ingredients, Mr. Hung chopped onions and green onions, mixed them with eggs and spices. Mr. Thanh was in charge of frying the eggs. The accompanying vegetables such as coriander and cucumber were thinly sliced into bite-sized pieces.

After frying, the eggs are cut into small pieces and then pressed tightly into the bread filling.

When the batches of golden, fragrant eggs were brought out, Mr. Hung put the filling into the bread, filling it with ingredients.

“Every now and then, I make Vietnamese food for my brothers to enjoy. Vietnamese egg bread is delicious and quick to make, not too time-consuming. I buy a lot of bread so everyone can eat comfortably, when they get home they only have corn flour, cassava leaves, and sweet potatoes to eat,” Hung Kaka confided.

The Vietnamese man said that egg bread would taste better if served with chili sauce, but where he lives, chili sauce is not available, or if it is available, it is very expensive. Therefore, he replaced chili sauce with a few fresh chili peppers to increase the spiciness, making the food more delicious for everyone.

When the egg bread was finished, he brought it out to the Angolan farm workers and showed them how to enjoy it. Everyone was excited to try it and could not hide their delight, constantly nodding their heads in praise of how delicious it was.

When everyone had finished two cakes, Hung Kaka asked if everyone could eat more so he could offer more. However, the group did not want to eat anymore. They revealed the reason “even though they craved it, they could not bear to eat more”, because they wanted to bring some home for their wives and children.

The members took turns explaining the reasons:

“I could eat more, but I want to take the rest home for my children and wife”;

“I could have eaten five, but thinking about my hungry children waiting for me at home, I wanted to bring the rest home for my wife and children. My wife and children have never had such delicious food.”

“Every time we go to work here and there is delicious food, we leave some to bring home for the children, because they have never had such delicious food before."

Angolan people's sharing about the reason why they often don't finish their food made Hung Kaka emotional.

When he learned that people at the farm often did not finish their food because they wanted to bring it home for their families to enjoy, the Vietnamese man was moved. He immediately divided the remaining bread among everyone, two for each person.

He also reminded everyone to take good care of their families.

The Angolan members repeatedly thanked their Vietnamese brothers for bringing them delicious and filling meals, admitting that “their wives and children at home will definitely be very happy.”

The remaining bread was divided equally among the Angolan members to take home to their families.

After sharing the cake with everyone, Mr. Hung felt a little sad because everyone could still bring delicious food home for their wives and children or have their families pick them up after work. But people who work far from home like him and Thanh Paulo, even if they have delicious food, cannot bring it home.

The man from Nghe An confided that the journey from Angola to Vietnam was quite difficult, having to travel 6-7 times, both by car and plane, taking 2-3 days to get there. Having to leave their families, the brothers were all very sad but then encouraged each other to try hard for life and the future.
