Mr. Hoang Xuan Hai - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lac Duong district said that after 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 04-NQ/HU of Lac Duong District Party Committee on developing high-tech agriculture, applying smart agriculture; building product consumption chains associated with building brands of typical products, the district's agricultural sector has achieved many important achievements. Specifically, the situation of high-tech agricultural production continues to develop. Currently, the whole district has 3,100 hectares of high-tech agricultural production, accounting for over 35% of the total cultivated area of the district (an increase of 950 hectares compared to 2020), contributing over 30% of the production value of the agricultural sector; the agricultural area produced in greenhouses is 1,648.2 hectares (an increase of 848.2 hectares compared to 2020). Agricultural projects and programs have achieved 100% of the plan; High-tech agricultural development among local people is of interest; certified agricultural production area is estimated at 566.37 hectares.
Up to now, the district has approved 5 plans for high-tech agricultural production zones. Of which, the Provincial People's Committee approved 4 zones including: High-tech agricultural production zone in Ap Lat area, Da Sar commune with a scale of 346 hectares; High-tech agricultural production zone in Da Deum area, Da Sar commune with a scale of 172 hectares; High-tech agricultural production zone in Klong Klanh, Da Chais commune with a scale of 181 hectares; Lam Dong high-tech agricultural zone in Da Sar commune with a scale of 221.32 hectares (under implementation). At the same time, the People's Committee of Lac Duong district has also approved a high-tech coffee production zone with a scale of 300 hectares in Lac Duong town (under implementation).
In addition, the People's Committee of Lac Duong district has directed specialized agencies to review and include in the planning a number of high-tech agricultural production areas in the coming time. Specifically, 100 hectares of high-tech vegetable production area in Sub-area 115, Da Sar commune; 100 hectares of high-tech vegetable and flower production area in Pang Tieng village, Lat commune. Develop guidelines for the development of a number of products with typical advantages of the district such as medicinal plants such as artichoke; build a mushroom growing area, replant high-quality coffee varieties such as tipyca, bourbon, moka, etc.
In particular, in order to promote high-tech agricultural production, Lac Duong district has focused on restructuring agricultural production according to the advantages of each locality to create high-quality agricultural products, meet the market demand, and increase income per unit area. For vegetables, flowers, and medicinal plants, Lac Duong district prioritizes the development of key products of the district such as: roses with an area of 335 hectares, concentrated in Lac Duong town and some neighboring communes, annually supplying the market with an average of 422 million flower branches/year; investing in developing 60 hectares of strawberry cultivation, of which about 10 hectares are grown in greenhouses, high technology, many varieties, beautiful product designs, high productivity and quality, high prices such as: Japanese, New Zealand, Korean strawberry varieties, average revenue of 1 - 1.5 billion VND/ha/year; Artichoke medicinal plants with a total area of 37 hectares, the average annual income of people is from 500 - 700 million VND/ha/year; hydroponic vegetable cultivation (4 hectares) can grow 10 - 11 crops, average revenue is 9 billion VND/year; in addition, there are many types of high-class vegetables and flowers for export in greenhouses such as lilies, lettuce, bell peppers, baby cucumbers...
As for coffee, this is still the main crop and the main source of income for many ethnic minority households. Lac Duong district, the locality is promoting the replanting of 30 hectares on old, pest-infected, low-yield areas associated with sustainable farming models such as certified coffee production. Up to now, the locality has had 584.21 hectares certified for safe coffee production RA, planting shade trees to diversify crops, increasing income for people. Along with that, people have applied mechanization in the stages of cultivation, transportation, harvesting, preservation, and preliminary processing to reduce losses and improve the quality of coffee beans; harvesting and preserving according to the correct process, promoting the application of automatic drying technology, investing in drying yard systems and standard storage warehouses to reduce post-harvest losses.
On the other hand, with the available potential advantages, Lac Duong district is maintaining and stably developing the area for cold-water fish farming (sturgeon), thereby exploiting the potential, strengths, efficiency, and sustainability of the water surface area of irrigation reservoirs, water surfaces, and water sources in the district. Currently, the whole district has 23.5 hectares/13 organizations and individuals farming cold-water fish, with an annual output of 1,020 tons, an average yield of 60 tons/ha/year, and annual revenue of enterprises reaching over tens of billions of VND/ha.
In the coming time, the People's Committee of Lac Duong district will continue to direct the district's agricultural sector and units to continue to promote the implementation of the agricultural restructuring plan towards clean agriculture, improving efficiency, creating a breakthrough in productivity and quality of agricultural products; at the same time, increasing mechanization and automation in agricultural production to improve productivity, quality and efficiency; reducing labor and production costs in the agricultural sector; focusing on the preliminary processing, preservation and processing of agricultural products to reduce post-harvest losses. Along with that, increasing production according to standards and traceability to create attraction in linking product consumption. Effectively manage, exploit and use certified agricultural product brands, OCOP products, focusing on expanding the scope of use of the brands "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from good land", "Arabica LangBiang Coffee" ...
