In the first two months of 2025, Vietnam exported 560 tons of chili, worth 1.9 million USD (down 65.4% in volume and 52.1% in value compared to the same period in 2024).

Laos was Vietnam's main chili export market in the first two months of 2025 with 286 tons (accounting for 51.1% of the country's total chili export output).

Experts explain that the reason for Vietnam's chili exports decreasing in the first two months of 2025 is because it coincided with the Lunar New Year holiday. In the coming time, chili export activities will flourish again when entering the main harvest season.

Chili is currently an economically efficient fruit, suitable for the farming conditions of farmers across the country because it can be intercropped with many types of plants and does not require much care.

The area of chili cultivation worldwide is currently about 20 million hectares. Asia is the largest chili producing region in the world, accounting for 80% of global chili production. The main chili growing countries in the world include: India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Nigeria, Mexico... Of which, India is the largest chili producing and exporting country in the world, followed by Vietnam, China and Indonesia.

The global chili trade value is currently around 35 billion USD/year, not less than the world's major consumer goods such as coffee, tea...
