At the end of the first phase, Ho Chi Minh City recruited 294 teachers and staff out of a total of 337 actual needs, reaching a rate of nearly 84.54%. Specifically, there were 254 teachers, equivalent to a rate of nearly 96.58%, and 41 staff, equivalent to a rate of 55.4%.
Notably, Ho Chi Minh City has recruited enough teachers for most subjects this year, including difficult-to-recruit subjects such as fine arts (10 teachers), music (8 teachers), English (31 teachers), and information technology (12 teachers). Subjects with high demand such as history (45 teachers), mathematics (33), English (31), national defense education (22), physical education (18), and geography (18) have all been recruited.
However, for staff positions, except for the cashier and class III librarians who have been fully recruited, other positions such as information technology staff, academic affairs, accounting, laboratory equipment, class IV librarians, clerical, and medical staff have not yet met the demand.
The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training assessed that this year's teacher recruitment has improved a lot due to the large number of candidates, helping Ho Chi Minh City select quality candidates who meet the requirements of the job position and the city's education sector. However, the recruitment of staff is difficult due to the small number of candidates. Except for the level III librarian and cashier positions with competition ratios of 3 and 4 respectively, other positions have not met the actual demand.
The reason given for the difficulty in recruiting school staff is that school staff salaries are still relatively low, while the workload is high.
In the 2024-2025 school year, many localities in Ho Chi Minh City have a large demand for recruiting school staff: Hoc Mon district needs 31 staff, Cu Chi district needs 63 staff, Thu Duc city needs 66 staff.
To overcome the shortage of school staff and increase benefits, the Ministry of Education and Training has recently proposed that the Ministry of Home Affairs study and review school staff salaries according to the new salary policy, and at the same time propose that this group receive preferential allowances according to their profession at a more appropriate level.
