The Stained Glass Art Museum was established with the aim of contributing to diversifying the field of conservation and museums in Vietnam, bringing inspiration about beauty and encouraging creative ideas in the application of stained glass technology and art, in addition to promoting international cultural exchange, searching for and promoting the value of this art.

The museum was founded by journalist and diplomat Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations and Director of the Stained Glass Art Museum, who has spent nearly 40 years collecting more than 2,000 rare stained glass works from famous stained glass art backgrounds such as Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany, the United States, etc.
With the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Hanoi City, after implementing the national appraisal process for the system of artifacts, on December 1, 2021, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee issued a decision to establish the Stained Glass Art Museum - the first museum specializing in glass art and stained glass in Vietnam.

The museum's exhibition house in Ba Vi, Hanoi with an area of over 2,000m2 was started construction in early 2022 with a unique design.
After 3 years of implementation, the museum was officially inaugurated and put into operation on March 15, 2025, giving the public the opportunity to admire stained glass works with many different styles and manufacturing techniques, such as Murano stained glass (Italy), Bohemian (Czechoslovakia), Tiffany (USA), Mayer Munich (Germany)...
This unique and valuable collection was donated by the museum founder to the community through the management and administration of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations with the aim of popularizing knowledge to the community, creating a budget to support the activities of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations and building the Cultural Development Fund.

Sharing with the press about the establishment of the museum, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang said that the museum is not only a place to display precious stained glass works but also aims to build a space for cultural and artistic exchange.
Through the exhibits displayed here, the museum's founder expressed his desire to bring stained glass art closer to the Vietnamese public, while creating conditions for artists, especially young artists, to explore and develop this field.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, on behalf of the museum's management and operation unit, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thiet, Vice President of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations and Deputy Director of the Stained Glass Art Museum, emphasized that the museum promises to become a favorite and trustworthy address for all those who are interested in, love and want to learn about stained glass art.
The Vice President of the Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations also expressed his belief that the museum's exhibition house with a design that has never been repeated in Vietnam will bring much inspiration to visitors, becoming a destination with new and attractive cultural and artistic values, contributing to promoting Ba Vi - one of the key tourist centers of the capital Hanoi.
In addition to the exhibition, the museum also plans to organize exchanges, research, and provide information on stained glass art and its applications in life. At the same time, the museum also plans to cooperate with domestic and foreign artisans to promote stained glass art in Vietnam.
