Attending the event were comrades: Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; People's Artist Xuan Bac, Director of the Department of Performing Arts; Nguyen Tho Truyen, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van San, Deputy Head of the Political Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Command; Nguyen Thi Thuy Ha, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Film Institute; Duong Cam Thuy, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association; along with actors and film directors.

In her opening speech, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Ha, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Film Institute, affirmed that the Great Victory of Spring 1975, culminating in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, always brought abundant inspiration to filmmakers.


The organizers hope that the exhibition will attract and spread strongly to a wide range of people, domestic and foreign tourists the indomitable beauty of the national spirit, the Vietnamese people in the cause of protecting and building the Fatherland along with the beauty of life, the civilized, modern, and affectionate people of Ho Chi Minh City.
Through that, it contributes effectively to the propaganda, promotion and continuation of historical and cultural values of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular; at the same time, it becomes one of the notable highlights of the series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, also affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City will create favorable and attractive spaces for the program to take place successfully.
The event is a bridge between the past and the present, helping each citizen gain more motivation, emotion and faith, towards the future of a Vietnam rising up with strong aspirations. Hopefully in the near future, Vietnamese cinematographic works, especially works about revolutionary wars, will continue to inspire filmmakers and produce works with great meaning.



The exhibition and film screening program "Echoes of the Great Spring Victory 1975 in Cinema" is an event organized by the Vietnam Film Institute in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City to widely promote the significance, stature and great historical value of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign that achieved great victory, liberating the South and reunifying the country.
On the other hand, exploiting and popularizing the historical and cultural values of archived documents and cinematographic materials through works, clips, images, film materials... to the general public aims to arouse and promote the tradition of patriotism, revolutionary heroism, and the will to fight and win of our people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The event includes 2 main activities:
The exhibition will display about 300 photos, photo collections stored at the Vietnam Film Institute and photos collected from film production units and related film studios under 2 themes: Cinema with historical moments; Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City through a cinematic perspective.
The photos are selected from documentaries, feature films, and documents about the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign. Images of film artists working on the Southern battlefield during the resistance war against the US to save the country. In addition, there are images of the simple beauty and vibrant, integrated life of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City today.




The film screening program will have main activities on the evening of April 27 and 28 at Nguyen Hue Walking Street with the screening of the films: Wild Fields , the documentary City at Dawn and an exchange with the film crew of Tunnels: Sun in the Dark .
In particular, the documentary Victory Vietnam , recently presented by the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam, was also screened at the event.
In addition, there will be screenings of documentaries: The Road to the Front, Some Images of the Liberation of Saigon, Saigon Joyful Victory at the Ho Chi Minh City General Science Library (69 Ly Tu Trong, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) and will last until May 8.
Previously, from April 18 to 25, the organizers also had film screenings at the Ho Chi Minh City General Science Library and Ho Chi Minh City Open University.
