On August 2, Phu Quoc City People's Committee said that at around 9:00 p.m. on August 1, Vietravel Airlines flight number VU1183 took off from Taoyuan International Airport (Taiwan, China) carrying 210 Taiwanese tourists and landed at Phu Quoc International Airport.
This is the first direct flight of Vietravel Airlines connecting Taipei (Taiwan) - Phu Quoc ( Kien Giang ).

According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, in the first 6 months of this year, Phu Quoc welcomed about 508,000 international visitors (up 45.1% over the same period). Of which, about 133,481 were tourists from Taiwan and Hong Kong.
"Before the Covid-19 pandemic, Taiwanese tourists rarely came to Phu Quoc. However, since the beginning of the year, this tourist market has been relatively prominent in Phu Quoc. This is also a good sign for Phu Quoc's tourism industry," said Mr. Ha Tuan Minh, Director of Vietnam International Travel Company Limited in Phu Quoc.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hai - General Director of Vietravel Airlines - said that the flight will contribute to connecting two of the most attractive tourist destinations in Asia. The head of this airline believes that the Taipei - Phu Quoc route will contribute to increasing the number of tourists to Phu Quoc, promoting local tourism development.
According to the announcement from the General Statistics Office, in the first 6 months of the year, the tourism industry welcomed over 8.8 million international visitors, an increase of 58.4% over the same period last year and 4.1% higher than the same period in 2019.
Of which, South Korea continues to be Vietnam's largest market with 2.2 million arrivals. China ranks second with 1.8 million arrivals and Taiwan ranks third with 630,000 arrivals.
