Connecting trade and promoting exports in Da Nang city

The conference aims to contribute to the implementation of the export development goals of Da Nang city in particular and the whole country in general, at the same time strengthen the connection with provinces and cities at home and abroad, creating conditions for businesses to have the opportunity to meet and find partners, importers, potential buyers; contributing to promoting business products, connecting trade, expanding markets.

The conference was attended by over 400 delegates representing the Ministry of Industry and Trade, relevant agencies and departments of Da Nang, representatives of the Vietnam Trade Office in China, Japan, the Russian Federation, Indonesia, representatives of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Laos, representatives of the Consulate Generals of China, the Russian Federation, Laos in Da Nang, along with many businesses from Da Nang and many other provinces and cities across the country, and businesses from Laos. Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee and Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade co-chaired the conference.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong said that Da Nang still has a lot of potential and strengths in attracting investment and business, developing production and export of many types of products such as: mechanics - electricity - electronics, seafood, textiles, handicrafts and wooden products, construction materials - rubber - plastic, pharmaceuticals - medical equipment; industrial products supporting the aerospace industry, manufacturing and processing, pharmaceutical chemicals, agricultural products and food...; local specialties from the city's craft villages such as Non Nuoc stone craft village, Nam O fish sauce village, sesame crackers, Tuy Loan rice paper... and many OCOP products with diverse types from processed foods, wine, confectionery to pharmaceuticals, souvenirs, candles, cosmetics...

Currently, the trade and service sector is a bright spot, contributing positively to the overall economic growth of Da Nang city. In particular, the city's export of goods and services has shown signs of recovery and improvement. It is estimated that in the first 6 months of 2024, the total two-way import and export turnover of goods will reach nearly 1.6 billion USD, an increase of 11.3% over the same period in 2023. With the target of GRDP increasing by 8% in 2024, the export turnover of goods will increase by about 6%, the city is and will strive to implement trade promotion activities, diversify programs to support businesses in promoting and consuming products, expanding consumption markets; building policies to support businesses, developing logistics services; creating a favorable foundation to attract import and export goods circulating in the city; promoting domestic and foreign consumption; controlling prices, stabilizing the market.

“In the face of many difficulties in the world economy, market demand has not yet recovered strongly, Vietnamese enterprises in general and import-export enterprises in particular still face many difficulties in production and business, finding partners and orders. Therefore, organizing trade connection activities, supporting enterprises to expand markets, finding orders and partners is extremely necessary and important at the present time”, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong affirmed.

To create a new transformation, maximize the position and especially important role and exploit more effectively the potential and development advantages of Da Nang city, Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that the city needs to have solutions to promote science, technology, chain linkage in production to increase product value, regional linkage in trade promotion activities and export on a professional scale to maximize resources, effectively implement breakthrough action programs.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to accompany localities in general and Da Nang city in particular to promote export promotion, trade promotion and trade connection activities to help remove difficulties for manufacturers and exporters in the context of complicated developments in domestic and international consumption markets. Thereby, supporting the consumption of the city's strong products in both domestic and international markets, Mr. Vu Ba Phu added.

“With the policy of diversifying consumption forms, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has directed its units to cooperate closely with relevant agencies, organizations and enterprises, expanding both traditional and modern distribution channels, focusing on exploiting online channels and e-commerce for Vietnamese goods in domestic and international markets. In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has also actively promoted and diversified export markets for Vietnamese products with the drastic participation of the Vietnamese trade office system in all regions of the world,” said Mr. Vu Ba Phu.

At the conference, representatives of the Department of European and American Markets (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam Trade Offices in China, the Russian Federation, the Vietnam Trade Office Branch in Osaka, Japan, representatives of the Association of Russian Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs for Cooperation with Asia (RASPP), the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry provided a variety of updated information on the potential, opportunities of the local market and issues that Vietnamese enterprises in general, and Da Nang enterprises in particular, need to know when developing business cooperation, investment, and expanding exports in these markets.

This conference is an opportunity for businesses in Da Nang city and some localities across the country to grasp more information on forecasting the situation, orienting export market demand; updating import standards of markets, potential, and export space through cross-border e-commerce. On the side of foreign businesses, they will also approach and evaluate the production and supply capacity of Da Nang export enterprises as well as the logistics development situation in the locality, thereby helping the export market expand and more new supply chains are formed, contributing to bringing the strong products of Da Nang city in particular and provinces and cities of Vietnam in general further and more sustainably.

On the sidelines of the conference, there were exciting activities of displaying goods and connecting trade between Da Nang businesses, businesses from many other provinces of Vietnam and businesses from Laos. This activity created favorable opportunities for businesses to introduce, promote products and connect with potential partners.
