Reuters news agency quoted Mr. Nasser Kanaani, "Iran wants to seek to establish stability in the region, but this will only come by punishing the aggressor and creating deterrence for the Jewish regime."
Calling on the US to stop supporting Israel, Mr. Kanaani said the international community had failed in its mission to protect stability in the region and supported "punishing the aggressor".
On the same day, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions in Tehran to meet with Acting Minister Ali Bagheri Kani to emphasize Iran's determination to respond to Israel.
Accordingly, an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will be held on August 8 at Iran's request to discuss the assassination of Hamas leader Haniyeh and Iran's response.
Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah have all accused Israel of assassinating the Hamas leader on July 31 in Tehran. The death of Ismail Haniyeh is one of a series of high-ranking Hamas officials killed as the war in the Gaza Strip between Hamas and Israel approaches its 11th month.
However, Israeli officials have not yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
Meanwhile, according to the Times of Israel on August 5, the Israeli government is considering the possibility of conducting a preemptive strike against Iran if it discovers that Iran is planning to attack Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a meeting with Israel's security chiefs late on August 4, "in preparation for expected attacks on Israel by Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah."
