The Jakarta Post reported that the above information was given by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono in a speech on the country's foreign policy to the diplomatic community on January 10.

“Geostrategically, Indonesia is close to the source of regional disputes in the South China Sea . Indonesia’s stance remains to prioritize peaceful resolution,” Sugiono stressed, adding that Jakarta will continue to push for constructive dialogue on the COC.
Indonesia sees itself as a non-claimant in the South China Sea, a waterway vital to global trade.
In addition, according to Foreign Minister Sugiono, Indonesia will prioritize completing negotiations on free trade agreements and expanding international trade, including with non-traditional partners in Africa and the Pacific.
Regarding Indonesia's joining the BRICS group of leading emerging economies, he affirmed that this is not a deviation in Jakarta's international stance, but an affirmation of the country's free and active foreign policy.
Regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, he declared that Indonesia will never give up supporting the Palestinian cause, calling for a ceasefire and holding Israel accountable for its role in the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
