According to Korean media, Yeom Ki-hun will join the coaching staff of the Indonesian national team in the near future. It is known that the former striker of the Korean national team has made a decision on a new workplace, after carefully considering the serious offer from coach Shin Tae-yong. Chosun Sports (Korea) reported that Yeom Ki-hun will be an assistant to coach Shin Tae-yong, with the specific role of improving the quality of the Indonesian team's strikers. This is one of PSSI's steps towards the goal of improving the "quality" of the Indonesian team before the journey to conquer the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.
Regarding the addition of personnel on the coaching bench, PSSI President Erick Thohir emphasized: "To improve the level of the Indonesian team, we must strengthen the team, specifically the doctors, medical staff and especially the coach. One of the weaknesses of the Indonesian team when facing stronger opponents is the deadlock in scoring and then conceding goals. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the quality of goalkeepers and strikers with better coaches. We already have a good goalkeeper coach, now coach Shin has added a coach for strikers."

Coach Yeom Ki-hun works as a coach at Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
Yeom Ki-hun was born in 1983 and played for many strong clubs in Korea such as Joenbuk, Ulsan Hyundai, and Suwon Samsung Bluewings. Yeom Ki-hun also played for the Korean national team from 2006 to 2018. Coach Shin Tae-yong led Yeom Ki-hun in the national team from 2017 to 2018. After retiring in 2023, Yeom Ki-hun moved to coaching at Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
